Now we’re supposed to believe that Turkey and Israel are on opposite sides of history. Erdogan as defender of the Ummah, Netanyahu as regional menace. Each camp now talks about the other as an existential threat. 1/9

1. Pre-Nov 2024 talks between ENKS & PYD failed because ENKS was demanding 50% of all seats in the AANES *without* holding elections 2. PYD-ENKS relations were also complicated by KCK-KDP conflicts in Başur, & the KDP's own embargo of the AANES
I hear this all the time "AANES attempted to run multiparty elections but Turkey threatened to invade & US to withdraw" but I don't think it reflects reality. I think it was a convenient excuse to not have any multi-party elections. The authorities in AANES were busy arresting and harassing members of the KNC and ENKS. We all know this. It was accepted due to expediency...as in "well SDF is the best option now"...but the fact is there was ample time to have local elections. I don't buy for one second that the same US officials who said "this is a temporary, transactional, tactical" partnership, that is primarily only military, opposed local elections. I also DO NOT buy the theory that "we have to not have elections because Ankara might be made"....Ankara already had invaded Afrin...it was bombing the SDF often... It's clear that PYD was always going to be a one party state. This was accepted when Assad was in power because the alternative was bad. But the fact is that democracy is better. DAANES literally had "democratic" in its name. But there was no democracy. I supported the SDF because I think as a military organization it was good. The political side of it was always problematic. Not matter how may councils are "half women"...having democracy is about doing more than just appointing a bunch of people who all are from the same political party. And it's not like any of the other polities were democracies either, not HTS, or Faylaq Sham, or the rulers of Suwayda today. But let's be honest about that... I haven't changed my view, I was never ideologically inclined to the political side of SDF...I thought the military side was fine.

That’s Mazloum Abdi, the Kurdish commander and military hero who spent 12 years fighting and helping defeat ISIS as the U.S.’s most reliable ally in Syria. Instead of medals, he wears pictures of his fallen comrades on his chest. He was betrayed by Trump.

Salih Muslim, PYD co-founder, and one of the key architects of the political project of Rojava passed away this afternoon. He gave everything for the people: his son Şervan fell in 2013 defending Girê Spî from radical islamic militants (ISIL). When his body returned to Kobani, hundreds welcomed him. Şervan Muslim's mother did not cry when she saw her son's body and said: "My children are no better than the children of the people, after all, when I sent my children to war, I expected such things to happen, that's why I don't cry."

Now is the time of women! 🌿✊ For the 8th March we want to send our warmest greetings to all you beautiful comrades. Just as civilization began with the productive force of women and mothers - the female creator giving birth to women and men, agriculture, architecture, language, arts, clothing, culture and believe, being one with the cosmic forces of the universe and nature - the 21st century is calling on us as women worldwide. Now is the time of women. This is a call, but also a need for the decision to struggle. As Abdullah Öcalan says to "begin the enormous practical task, of implementing the ideology of women's liberation. Of taking a qualitative leap from the ideology of women's liberation to a political practice of women's liberation", turning the 21st century into a positive revolutionary struggle. Nothing is more internationalist then the united struggle of us women, having been enslaved spiritually and physically, having been wholly colonized as the first nation to bring again to freedom that devine force of our common existence. The 3rd World War has entered a more extreme phase of protracted wars, military interventions, genocidal politics, mass rape culture and daily intensified special warfare against our thoughts and our bodies. We thus pledge to also intensify our efforts to building an "ecological, democratic, and communal social system based on women's freedom". We women must bring our collective universal strength to the forefront, as it is a strength of solution, becoming a leading force for freedom and peace worldwide. We wish success to all of you, and send you our respect and love. ✌️💜 #JinJiyanAzadi #8M #8Mart #8March
