Jeremy Hunt, the man who reduced the amount of money available to government by cutting NI twice in the run up to an election they knew they would lose.

Farage claims the media misrepresents him. That's probably true. He's certainly had more bribes than the £5m one.

So at it again!, read the small print - he ‘eyes’ a ‘decade long’ plan. First ‘public control’ is not ‘public ownership’ - there’s a big difference. Secondly over 10 years whilst he and his followers expects Starmer to have sorted things in just 2 years. google.com/search?q=differen…
A decade-long project to bring water and energy into public control will lie at the heart of Andy Burnham’s agenda should he become prime minister, according to sources close to the Greater Manchester mayor. Exc from @kiranstacey theguardian.com/politics/202…

We're fast swapping universal democracy for a poisonous feedback loop of daily litmus-tests that the vast majority have no vote in but the results of which are taken as *more* valid than general elections ffs: vox pops, focus groups, hybrid focus group/vox pops and opinion polls.

Is there really a PLP Burnham coalition? Doubt it. And if there were, doubt it can survive the reality of Burnham. Bet many of his backers are watching him through their fingers now while the press gears up for a feeding frenzy on new prey. They've trashed their own PM for this.

I’m a trade union member and will be backing Starmer who is delivering precisely what he said he would. At speed.

Ah yes that famous “negotiation” where Japan unconditionally surrendered after two atom bombs and Hitler blew his brains out.
JD Vance: If you go back to WW2 or every major conflict in human history, they all ended with some kind of negotiation.
Community note
World War II ended with unconditional surrenders by Germany on May 8, 1945, and Japan on September 2, 1945, rather than negotiation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconditi… archives.gov/milestone-docu… nationalww2museum.org/war/topics/end…

All those Labour members going to campaign for Andy Burnham in Makerfield can’t wait for Andy to take an axe to the welfare budget. That’s definitely what they thought they were buying right?

Sometimes I think there's no end to the damage Ed Miliband did to Britain and British politics by standing against David. Sounds like he might be still at it, too. I'm in despair. Can the slide to poverty, division and violence can be stopped? Not looking good, is it?

It was more than an inflection point. It was a sliding doors moment. We entered another, wrong, universe. EdM's idiotic reforms led to Corbyn at the very moment we needed a convincing EU advocate. A perfect storm of lazy ass Cameron, useless Corbyn and bad mad Johnson ruined us.

And on top of all the irritation of this nonsensical coup, it's not 'coronated' in British English. It's 'crowned'. I mean why not go the whole hog and say 'crownation' if you want to make stuff up.🙄

Brilliant that @KevinCraigUK actually promoted this Labour govt and by default @Keir_Starmer on the Makerfield doorstep. I love what he says. It’s the truth. It should have been @AndyBurnhamGM’s message but he didn’t want to just be an MP did he? So he couldn’t tell the truth.
As the World Cup kicks off I keep returning to one thought: this Labour Government is only 36 minutes into the first half. I mentioned this on the doorstep in Makerfield this week and people understood the need to give the Government time. I look forward to going back up to the constituency next week. Whilst in Makerfield I spoke to international media @TRTWorld about what I hope happens next week and afterwards. These are clearly difficult times for the Government, but just as you can’t judge a football match 36 minutes in, you can’t judge a Government not even half-way through its five-year mandate given by the British public. The last thing the country needs is the Labour Party spending the entire summer talking to itself. It is not what people voted for. Let’s put every effort into winning in Makerfield and then unite to do the job of turning this country around. Not even mentioned: in all our problems, fkin Brexit's always there, fundamentally or a multiplier. If UK were in the EU, it could access SAFE (Security Action for Europe), a €150 billion loan facility for military procurement & the defence industry. #BrexitbrokeBritain #r4today

I still don't understand what Healey/Carns have planned as their next move? I simply don't believe they think Andy Burnham would cut local transport projects or any aspect of welfare to fund defence. Isn't the whole Burnham coup about NOT making those cuts and being more Labour?

When Starmer's Government reduced eligibility for the winter fuel allowance they were accused by RW media of picking on impoverished pensioners. Now they're not commiting even more money to defence it's because Starmer doesn't have the courage to cut welfare. See how this works!

Here’s eight things Labour’s Plan for Change has delivered this week. LABOUR IS: 📱 Telling tech firms: block explicit images on children’s phones, or the government will act 🧠 Expanding mental health support in schools, with nearly six million children and young people now able to get help in their school or college 📚 Tackling avoidable school absence, giving schools new tools to spot patterns, strengthen attendance and keep children learning in the classroom 🐕 Strengthening protections around banned dog breeds, stopping children under 12 being left alone with dangerous dogs such as XL bullies 🩻 Rolling out £20 million of AI-powered chest X-ray technology across every NHS trust in England by 2029, helping patients get faster diagnoses 🚜 Backing family farms with £290 million for simpler, fairer farming schemes, cutting red tape and supporting soil health, clean waterways and wildlife 🌧️ Investing £50 million to protect Somerset homes, farms and businesses from flooding, helping communities withstand extreme weather and protect rural livelihoods 🐄 Driving a new science-led plan to tackle bovine TB, protecting farmers’ livelihoods and working towards TB-free status in England by 2038
