THE RESULTS! Today our class found out if their teams qualified for the invitational round for the #WLRC I recorded their reactions. It’s SUPER CUTE ☺️ from over 1500 teams only 500 were chosen. CONGRATS TO THE TEAMS THAT QUALIFIED! @ElmDrivePS@PeelSchools@WonderWorkshop

In M5 Ss collaborate to explore how a pulley system works. Ss identify that in order for the system to work it needs 4 parts. A load, force, rope &a pulley. Ss create & assemble their pulley system to open the gate to The Lost City! @ElmDrivePS@WonderWorkshop@PeelSchools#WLRC

Ss are using their knowledge of nets to help them build their Box City for Mission 3 of #WLRC While Ss experiment with different strategies to make a net out of a box, others are using @Flipgrid and @PicCollage to document their groups process. @ElmDrivePS@PeelSchools
Ss wrote a letter to persuade the principal to let us get fish for our class inquiry. Ss collected info about fish they were interested in studying & wrote about what their plan of action was. What type of food? Water temp? etc Which fish will thrive? @PeelSchools@ElmDrivePS
Today Ss decided they needed to practice observation/estimating skills a bit more before beginning our Fish Inquiry. Ss estimated the distance Dash should travel around their peers while using descriptive lang to explain his journey. @ElmDrivePS@PeelSchools@WonderWorkshop
Ss created a robot character and story for Mission 2 in #WLRC. They used descriptive language to tell the story of their character as they avoided “logs” to get to the yummy food in the trap at the end of the junk yard. @ElmDrivePS@PeelSchools@WonderWorkshop
Finally received our competition mat so teams can complete Mission 1 in style! Ss are discussing coordinates and estimating distances between trash piles while also problem solving to create their code! #WLRC@WonderWorkshop@ElmDrivePS@PeelSchools
