🆘🆘 KANNU (ID 93256), 3 YO, FEMALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 3/25/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- death of owner. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 🆘🆘 KANNU CAME IN WITH HER BONDED SIBLING TILOKI (ID 93255), ALSO ON THE EPL - LET’S KEEP THEM TOGETHER🆘🆘 ➡️TBD 4/16/26 ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 21 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ KANNU IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - Kannu is part of a bonded pair of cats (Tiloki 93255), and while she is a sweet and social cat that does appreciate pets and attention - she is sensitive to loud noises and the environment. Due to this, the shelter environment causes an increased level of FAS for her. Both she and her sibling are FIV and she has presented with a URI quickly upon entering the shelter. Due to her potential for increased stress as well as her bonded sibling's need for decompression outside of the shelter setting, the behavior team feels it in both of their best interests to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. - This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 Kannu appreciates and solicits attention and petting but appears to be somewhat fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. I am bonded to Tiloki (93255). We must go home together and our adoption fee includes both of us! A volunteer writes: With his little airplane ears and likely shelter specific look of vague annoyance, Tiloki pretends to reluctantly accept pets but I don't think shelter life is anywhere near the burden it was now that his little sister's back in his life. Enter Kannu! Stepping onto or over her brother's head in her efforts for pets, she doesn't seem to mind him moping in the corner and hopes you won't either. He just needs a little extra patience is all. Each time we go to pet Tiloki, Kannu comes over to nuzzle and ask, "But what about me?" Like many siblings, Tiloki and Kannu are almost opposites but shine brightest in the understanding company of one another. Brought to us from a home with many other cats when their guardian passed away, Tiloki and Kannu demonstrate their differences and love with such familial ease that I can't help but knowingly giggle in awe. I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. What my friends at ACC say about me: Autumn was sitting up at the back of the kennel with her head and ears forward, focused on the assessor with a neutral body and eyes. When offering treats on the scratcher tool, she lowers her head and leans forward to sniff and then she leans back and sits up when reaching close. She leans in for cheek rubs, remains calm when petting her head, and walks forward to eat treats initially offered when stroking her body. She sniffs the tool again, leans in hard for cheek rubs, rubs her face on the den, walks to the front to greet the assessor, ignores treats offered, and then pokes her head out of the kennel to scan the environment. Pick up was not attempted in order to reduce stress.
