Today is prom day! This anthology is out in the world. @AttaGirlSays & I have a story in it - “The Box with the Pink Satin Bow”. Lots of other great stories, too! @WildInkPub

My 8 yr old niece just called me- she had written a letter to Kate DiCamillo and just got a response!! She was over the moon!! She read it to me. Authors have such power to shape lives, with their books, and by reaching back out to readers. ❤️

it took a single animator fifteen months to animate this crowd scene from The Wind Rises, and the care and dedication that real artists put into these films can never be replicated.

Well then you’re in luck if you read my books! I’m here for that, was, had, just, and all the other words deemed trash. Because I like to write how people actually talk and think. It’s messy. It’s realistic. And easily readable. 😉
Reading a more recently published book is reminding me of all of my pet peeves. Another pet peeve I have is the modern penchant for deleting “extra” words like “had” and “was”. I hate it so much, because the end result is a text that is grammatically incorrect

Reading about the insane numbers of books that ordinary working people used to read a hundred years ago feels like seeing pictures of the Pacific Ocean back when it teemed with whales. Hard to comprehend what we’ve lost.

Making progress on my author website. Hope to have something to share in the next month or so. When I started writing fiction, I had no idea how many other things an author has to do!

I love C. S. Lewis because he’ll casually say things like “that’s how beavers talk when they’re excited” or “talking horses always sound more horsey when they are angry” with the confidence of someone who’s personally been to Narnia and brought back report.

The part of George Orwell’s 1984 that everyone forgets is how the music and publishing industries have been replaced by a machine that spits out songs and bad novels “without any human intervention.” The goal is to keep you from ever having to think.

Do you write profanities in your novels? Mine are riddled with them, and people seem to get really offended. Are we censoring ourselves like this in today’s world?
