I saw a video of baby Preston in some kind of seat. He was falling asleep and one of those men said ’Boo’ to wake him.
Preston’s face tells me everything I need to know.
He wakes up, about to smile, perhaps remembering ‘boo’ as a fun game from his safe placement with foster carers. And then a look of complete apprehension fills his face.
It is clear from this one short clip that he did not feel at all safe with these men and that’s what’s so heartbreaking. That he spent his last 4 months in pain and in absolute fear.
You wonder why they wanted a baby. I fear it was for the very worst of reasons.
And yet there are so many good people who get turned down by adoption agencies because of their jobs or because they are too old.
The hoops people have to jump through, the assessments that are made before they are even allowed to be considered fit to adopt. How on earth did these monsters get accepted and what needs to be improved in the assessment process to ensure this doesn’t happen again?
