🚨When the sun sets, coral reefs transform - but artificial light is disrupting this delicate balance by waking sleeping #fish and attracting predators - exposing these communities to danger. 🐟🐡🔦 brnw.ch/21wPwi2 @BristolBioSci @EmmaFishGal @DrSteveSimpson

5/ Some species were nocturnal predators that had been attracted to the artificially illuminated reef. Other were diurnal (day-active) species that had been roused from sleep ⏰

6/ 25 nights of light had community-scale impacts on coral reef nightlife, but only three nights was too short to elicit changes. This suggests that there could be low-cost solutions to reduce impacts of artificial light on coral reef inhabitants🏝️ 📷: @jules_schligler

The return of Bluefin Tuna to UK seas is likely due to decades of stringent fishing restrictions paired with warmer waters from both AMO (Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation) and Climate Change. Looks like they will be here for a while IF we don't start exploiting their stocks🐟
1) What a wonderful day of wildlife watching near Plymouth. To learn why the incredible bluefin tuna have migrated to UK seas and also much more, read this thread. It is vital to understand the reason for their recent appearance. See 2
