Today is Childhood Day "Half a million children a year suffer abuse in the UK. That means 7 children in a classroom experience abuse before they turn 18 But together, we can change that." #nspcc Here is me as a child to help celebrate.@NSPCC

Dr Adam Burley: We don’t seem to recognise that the people we work with, might have an incapacity to play. We can’t expect people to play when they don’t have a relational frame to work from @IPAGlasgow2023

Replying to @KKatPlay
Emma Booth of @leedsbeckett University sharing her experience of researching and working with play as a mechanism for supporting families who are serving the ‘hidden sentence’. Simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking to learn about the provisions for play in prison.

Absoulety disgusted in the way my husband was treated by @fdarena . While clearly being able to see his stoma bag through his clothing there was no consideration to his medical condition. Whislt searching him twice and finding no drugs on him entry was refused. #discrimination

Thank you to @KerryMP and @elliereeves for mentioning CHAS' work supporting children affected by #parentalimprisonment during yesterday's parliamentary debate on Jade's Law - highlighting the dangers of allowing offenders to maintain parental responsibility from within the prison
Yesterday I spoke in this debate and talked about the work @ChildrenHandS is doing with children where a parent is in prison for DV, sexual abuse or murder. Glad to see Labour commit to Jade’s law and the Minister commit to finding me data on number of children affected.

More really needs to be done to support mental health in prisons across the board

‼️ New @MoJGovUK statistics show an annual increase in self-harm incidents within the youth custody estate. There are just 15 girls in youth custody, yet they account for nearly 40% of incidents. We need better mental health care. Now. Our full comment: bit.ly/3sCx7xK
