Got some crazy shots of the big ranch wedding we attended today.

Some folks thought this shed is AI generated; it's not. This is the work of M. Blöcher of Germany. Just elegant traditional building projects! alte-ziegelei-lemgo.de/
A German garden shed in half-timbered style with brick infill. Something like this is what's in mind for the overflow bedroom village plan.

I regret to inform my regen ag nerd bros that they'll likely remain a niche luxury, while boo-hiss conventional ag (which feeds everyone), looks increasingly like this. Sorry, but hand tended polycultures require a young workforce, America is getting old, and robotics are getting better.
autonomous robot driving through the field at night. no chemicals. no pesticides. just UV light killing pathogens and pests while everyone sleeps. this is @tricrobotics. this is what chemical-free pest control looks like at scale.

Building for the long term is true green not gizmo green
One of the core benefits of structural masonry is that it can endure long periods of neglect and be brought back to life. Wood just can’t take abandonment on the chin.

I think some of the "useless" areas now carry large numbers of feral camels, which do have a market value. So they were being a bit pessimistic.

You always wonder how and why structures like this were allowed to go that far. It's oddly common. Although big old houses in low demand areas might only bring 100K in decent shape, so no one is getting rich by saving them! I suppose that is the answer.
Too far gone?

In general, you shouldn't get mad if I QT. I have one of the most heterogenous follower bases on this site and typically have a very beneficial effect on the metrics of people I interact with, even if I don't entirely agree or challenge the post.
Looking at the data behind a banger is quite interesting. For the last one, despite having 2.2 million views, it appears @Empty_America was the largest acc to RT. He was followed by dozens of OnlyFans models in the 10-20k range who RT'd. Not sure what it means but it's something.

If car camping you might as well bring whatever you are willing to pay for and deal with setting up. If you are backpacking you will very soon learn that comfort has a severe price in weight and thus beyond a certain point causes net discomfort.
On the latest Peak Northwest podcast, a first-time camper's air mattress confession sparks a debate about what camping comfort actually looks like.

It's interesting, you 100% CAN meet a wife on X. But lots of guys who say they want a wife post in a way that is absolutely repellant to all women. So they are wasting a venue here, and even if anon, probably see that bad vibe bleed over into real life.
Careful what you joke about on here it just might work out

"They are wondering why they have to jump through hoops to get married, have their children baptized." This is the biggest issue you see IRL. Some hoops may be needed but important to grasp this as a necessary evil to be minimized. The hoops mostly aren't "trad" anyway.
Decades ago, I worked for a diocese; then I worked at the Vatican for 15 years; and now I work for @Crux as an editor. I am not a “Catholic professional” – I am a “professional Catholic.” And “mea culpa”, we have too much control over thought in the Church. Most parishioners do not care about Latin Masses, women deacons, or married priests. They are wondering why they have to jump through hoops to get married, have their children baptized, and attend Catholic schools.

One of the biggest issues facing gifted kids is that they are seen (by average and high average adults) as "candidates" to be pushed towards extremely conventional types of success, and failures if they don't comply with this. The entire discussion is "off" in this respect.
This article activated the screaming rage of 14 year old Hannah like a sleeper agent. - gifted kids are special needs kids - gifted kids need special services to thrive and in many cases survive - gifted kids do not need to perform for you to get their needs met

Attractiveness in architecture is mostly just age. Place in the USA like New Orleans that have undisturbed pre 1920 cityscapes are much more attractive than anywhere in Europe built after WWII.

The only reason Europe has better architecture is only because their buildings are slightly older, everything built after 1920 is hideous there too.

The EU is inevitable. Germans must have visa free access to the Med in the same way that New Yorkers must have access to Florida. Huge incentive to create unified North-South zones.
This map does a good job in explaining the German longing for Italy (we even have a word for that longing: Italiensehnsucht)

At least a certain *type* of French is really easy for English speakers to read, after even the lightest study. I googled something today and the AI summary came up in French, and I just read it, didn't even really register it was French for a minute. But I often cannot read social media content from individuals which is more idiomatic.
One odd thing about these French tweets that show up in my timeline is that I can read them perfectly even though I’m sub-fluent in French. It’s as though they were written specifically for French language learners. I wonder what native speakers think of them.

You get a similar but less pronounced effect in Spanish. I can generally follow the "official" narrator in Spanish documentaries, but often cannot understand the people interviewed.

The old artists mostly painted either pear or hourglass figures, (sometimes quite fat) then the media uni-culture of the late 20th century enforced an odd standard of tall and very slender, narrow hipped women. Social media allowed the real default average preference to return.
