It’s not deranged that thousands of tourists line up every day for a photo by the old red phone box looking up at Big Ben as their treasured picture from London. It’s deranged “not my job-ism” means this is so battered an stinky the very sign “telephone” is half-hanging off. What kind of impression does that give of the UK? Would take 10 seconds to map most instagrammed sites like this and give them a good scrub.

Such a shame when the Labour administration cancelled this excellent scheme after taking control of the council in 2022, basically because it was something nice and costing money in a Tory-voting ward. It was so lovely.
Their pledge to restore it is part of why I hoped they won

Atlanta is creating splendid new Gentle Density. These Row Houses (🇺🇸 = Terraced Houses in 🇬🇧) are less than 20 years old. This welcome abundance of homes means that though Atlanta has household incomes comparable to London, living costs are much lower. Everyone wins. (Via our wise fellow @bswud who is worth a follow not least for the cute baby photos!)

Paris is doing building refurbishment better than most cities
Saves a vast amount of materials and embodied carbon, and improves the streetscape. This also created 850m2 of additional floor area!
