BREAKING: Six opposition political forces have issued a joint statement rejecting the official results of Armenia’s June 7 parliamentary elections, arguing that the vote was marred by systemic violations that undermined the integrity of the electoral process.
The statement, signed by the Strong Armenia Alliance, Armenia Alliance, Prosperous Armenia Party, Bright Armenia Party, Armenian National Congress, and National Democratic Pole, asserts that the official results do not reflect the true will of the Armenian people and cannot serve as the basis for forming a legitimate government that enjoys the confidence of the majority of citizens.
The six political forces cited what they described as the widespread use of administrative resources, political persecution of opposition figures and activists, obstruction of opposition campaign headquarters, abuse of state and pro-government media resources, and irregularities in vote counting and the invalidation of polling station results.
The signatories also warned that responsibility for any future escalation of the political situation in Armenia rests with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government.
The statement comes one week after parliamentary elections that resulted in a victory for the ruling Civil Contract Party, which secured a parliamentary majority according to official results certified by the Central Electoral Commission.
