🏳️‍🌈For the first time in its history, the organisers of Durham Pride have signed a brand new agreement with Equity, which sets minimum standards for pay, terms, and conditions for performers who work at Durham Pride. Alongside an agreement with Manchester Pride, it is one of the first Pride agreements to be brokered by Equity. It marks a huge moment for the event which is going ahead despite having 100% of its funding cut by Reform-led Durham County Council earlier this year. For more on this story: tinyurl.com/sa7w6xbj

This week Equity's Kirsten Muat sat before the Women and Equalities Committee @ukcommonscommittees and said what many of our members already know: precarious, low-paid work stops women from speaking out about bad behaviour. The committee will soon be asking for submissions to their inquiry on Experiences of Women in Live Comedy, watch this space to find out how to take part.

Big win for artists in Scotland 🎉 Ahead of May’s elections, both Scottish Labour and the SNP have backed Equity’s call for a Basic Income for Artists, pledging to pilot the initiative. Marlene Curran, Equity Scotland Official, said: “We welcome this pledge from both Scottish Labour and the SNP to pilot a living wage for artists. Last month, we launched our own call for a Scottish Basic Income for Artists to support the creatives who drive Scotland’s cultural industries and boost the Scottish economy. We hope that other parties follow suit and back a Basic Income for Artists, taking the opportunity to cement Scotland’s position as a leader in arts and culture.” Find out more about our ongoing campaign on our website: equity.org.uk/campaigns-poli…
