Have you wondered how condensins translocate along DNA in vivo, where topological constraints are constantly being generated e.g. by transcription? @Ana_K_Morao, a fantastic postdoc in the lab addressed this question in doi.org/10.1101/2021.11.30.4…

I just wrote a review on transcriptional regulation and I want to talk about something that has been bothering me for 5 years, which ended up changing how I think about science in general. A brief thread: authors.elsevier.com/sd/arti…

A reminder ( it’s an evergreen topic) - humans are a genetically undiverse species - we exploded out Africa in a heartbeat of evolutionary time and we predominantly adapted to the multitude of environments by our behaviour, passing that knowledge down culturally in groups

Kamala Harris: Can you think of any laws that give the government the power to make decisions about the male body? Brett Kavanaugh: I'm not thinking of any right now
Community note
The Selective Service Act signed into law in 1917. Selective Service registration is not open to Women. Therefore this law only applies to males. As it pertains to war/conflict this is directly related to the health of men's bodies. sss.gov/register/who-n… sss.gov/register/women/

After lengthy deliberation & thought, and considering the talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to be the next Vice President of the Federation is Liquidator Brunt. He is good on the economy, brings latinum, while tough on unions and unruly females.

The new class of HHMI investigators average 3.9 papers as corresponding author in Cell, Nature, or Science. 26 out of 26 members of this group previously trained with a PI who is in the National Academy of Sciences or who was an HHMI investigator themselves.

Writing advice: the Introduction of your research paper should discuss previous work broadly. Keep in mind that your research only exists in the context of all the work that came before. Basically assume the reader just fell out of a coconut tree

Donald Trump is a hate monger, a sexual predator and a felon, but billionaire tech bros like Mark Zuckerberg can’t help but become aroused when thinking about his “manliness.” And we wonder why a woman has never been President in America.
Zuck: ‘I’m not planning on endorsing any of the candidates’ Also Zuck: ‘Trump is a badass… it’s hard to not get emotional about his American spirit and that fight’

Democrats should seize on the Hunter Biden gun charges to pass universal background checks... call it Hunter's Law and then force Republicans to vote against it.

Having mastered pinot noir farming, sex trafficking disruption, and Oregon's complex gubernatorial eligibility rules, I would like to explain how COVID started....(1/87)
I don't know what caused Covid-19, but I do think @Ayjchan makes a strong case for a lab leak in Wuhan. In retrospect, many of us in the journalistic and public health worlds were too dismissive of that possibility when she and others were making the argument in 2020.

Evolution offered at least 3 different solutions to the problem of dosage compensation: inactivating one X in XX females, upregulating the single X by ~2 fold in XY males , and downregulating both Xes by ~2 fold in XX hermaphrodites
