Hollywood bending the knee to AI was inevitable. Not because AI is inherently good. Because the entertainment industry has become a raging wildfire that constantly needs more fuel. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and streaming changed the way we consume entertainment. Especially after COVID. Everything is built around keeping us watching. More videos. More shows. More movies. More content pushed into the feed before the last thing we watched has even had time to matter. That demand is not going away. So of course studios are looking at AI as a way to create things faster and cheaper. The question is what they use it for. I am not afraid of AI helping artists make better work. Lower VFX costs. Faster animation pipelines. More development time. More filmmakers getting to create projects that may have been too expensive before. That is progress. What worries me is AI being used to shovel endless disposable content into an algorithm that only cares about watch time. That is where the “quality” conversation matters. Not because some corporate metric can decide what art is good. Because hours watched cannot be the only measurement of whether something has value. Hollywood already trained audiences to consume entertainment faster than ever. AI can either help artists make work worth watching... Or it can give the wildfire infinite fuel.
