“Our entire community is really now guinea pigs,” said Nicole Maccalla, whose Altadena home survived the Eaton Fire but suffered smoke and roof damage. She says she knows she and her kids were likely exposed. “It’s deeply concerning.”
She and fellow survivors see some hope in a new bill they helped inform. AB 1642 would establish the first statewide health standards for testing and cleaning up debris in and outside standing homes, schools, businesses and other structures after a wildfire.
“As far as Gill is concerned, there’s simply no substitute for the slow, methodical work of building support for climate solutions in your local community, among people of all ideologies. That’s the only way to build a durable bipartisan consensus.”
I expected to be annoyed by "The [Conserv]atives," a new documentary about the conservative climate movement.
But the film caught me off guard with its sincere but searing portrayal, and its key insight: Never, ever be cynical.

Horrible situation in Washington state....so sad for all the families of these employees. How narrowly we avoided something similar just this week in Garden Grove...we're all sure getting a crash course on the dangers of manufacturing.... usatoday.com/story/news/nati…
"The report contradicts the Trump administration’s claims that aging fossil-fueled plants are needed in order to prevent blackouts."

STAY OUT OF FIREFIGHTING AIRSPACE.
Aerial firefighting is one of the most dangerous and time-sensitive operations. We must fly low, maneuver through rugged terrain, and make precise drops and communicate in real time to support firefighters on the ground.
All of it STOPS the moment an unauthorized aircraft OR unauthorized drones enter the area because the risk to our crews’ lives is too great.
When a drone or private aircraft is spotted near a wildfire, firefighting aircraft must be grounded until the airspace is confirmed clear.
When our aircraft are grounded, the fire continues to move.
In those lost minutes, the fire grows, threatens additional communities, and reduces our ability to support firefighters on the ground.
If you fly, we can't.
