Holy shit. It’s happening. Well enjoy it Hoosiers… because you’ll be paying for it. You’ll be paying to the tune of $1-$2 BILLION dollars on a stadium that will also be exempted from paying property taxes while you’re paying through the nose on your property taxes that go up every single year. And you’ll be giving this money to a multi-billion billion dollar Sportsketball team and their lavishly wealthy owners. Good job. 🙄 Our priorities are all screwed up in this state.

How hilarious is this? Dirty Diego Moral-less is still sending out campaign mailers with Flip-Flopping Jim Banks endorsement on it… even though Jim Banks rescinded his endorsement like a rat fleeing a sinking ship! Oh this has been a delicious eventful Secretary of State race.

R.I.P. Mr. French Roast ☕️ (2021 - 2026) I found out my kitty French Roast crossed the rainbow bridge last night. 🌈 I found him resting peacefully next to one of the antiques. It looks like he just stretched himself out and fell asleep painlessly. French Roast was adopted from the Humane Society, he was between 2-4yrs old, and I’ve had him for about 5yrs so he made it to around 7-9yrs old. He was FIV but recently found out he was also FeLV too, and it was just too much for him to handle. I took him to the vet a few weeks ago and they ran some bloodwork, but there wasn’t much they could do for him besides give him some steroids and appetite stimulants. I think they made him feel more comfortable, and gave him a little energy. I had a little forewarning that this was coming at least. 🪦 In his final days he knew he was loved. He got lots of pets, and slept a lot at the foot of my bed. He was always my sneezy boy, sneezing all around the house. He had an adorable way about reaching out with his paw and asking for more pets. I will miss my French Roast. He was the Frenchest of kitties. 🐈‍⬛

Some interesting notes from the Hammond City Council meeting last night Mayor of Hammond, Tom McDermott, says @GovBraun offered BILLIONS of dollars to Da Bears. He also says he made a viral criticizing the Governor and Braun still gave him an NFL team. Translation: McDermott publicly cucked Braun and in return Tommy got a billion dollar sports franchise. McDermott was asked how much land would be needed for a potential Chicago Bears stadium development. He says the stadium itself would require at least 60 acres, but that the broader vision has always been around 300 acres when accounting for surrounding mixed-use development. He added that Hammond already has more than 300 acres available, including property the city expects to acquire. Translation: City money will be used to buy property to duplicate Wrigleyville. Expect everyone's property taxes to go up in that area. I have one major question that no one is asking. With DA Bears coming to Indiana, does this mean we won't have to deal with toll roads? Behold the humble bike lane, so desolate and unused that what once was dedicated for bicycles has now become the dedicated panhandling lane.

So many in Illinois who constantly bitch about taxes/Pritzker/Democrats/Chicago are upset they won’t give taxpayer money to billionaire NFL owners. So many in Indiana who badmouth Illinois for the same reasons seem pretty jazzed about paying taxes for a new stadium. #bears

Then tell me oh wise one. If Lucas Oil and the Hoosier Dome were such a great deal, why do we owe $450 million on Lucas Oil (after 20 years) and were we paying on the Hoosier Dome for 12 years after its demolition?
Replying to @RobMKendall
Would you spend $1.1 million to generate $155 million in economic activity over one week plus future event bookings, branding, etc? If I'm the mayor of a midsize city, that's an easy answer. Most of that money went to police and fire operations to, which is also great.

The 2025 Budget by the General Assembly raised taxes on Hoosier by $1 Billion. Now we’re going to commit double that money to give to a multi-billion dollar sports team… and you don’t think the General Assembly will be holding out their hand asking for *more* tax money during the next budget to pay for all these giveaways? Don’t be naive. We still haven’t paid off the Hoosier Dome, refinanced bonds tied with the Convention Center aren’t set to be paid off until 2039, we built Lucas Oil Stadium in 2008 but won’t have it paid off until 2037. Can we just pay off *one* taxpayer funded sports stadium before we give more money from working class Hoosiers to a Billionaire sports owner and his family? Maybe? We’ll be paying for this for decades. And the food and beverage tax increases will be paid by area residents forever, just like they are right here in Marion County to fund Jim Irsay’s world-renowned guitar collection.
Replying to @EthanHatcher
“Our roads are bad” is not an argument against landing a billion-dollar economic asset. Stadium districts generate jobs, tax revenue, events, restaurants, hotels, and development. You don’t fix infrastructure by passing on revenue-producing projects.

There’s nothing to cheerlead about taking money from poor and middle class people, raising taxes on an entire state, and siphoning off other tax increases, to give billionaires a free ride. That’s what Indiana is doing.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me THIRTY times, it’s time for impeachments. In a deep red state, our capital city should not be a revolving door for repeat offenders. If local officials refuse to enforce the law and protect the public, then they must be removed
If I told you that one man since 2020 has faced over 30 criminal cases in Indiana, including most being felony charges in Marion County for theft, resisting law enforcement, drug offenses, residential entry, auto theft, and criminal trespass, would you expect him to be in jail? Me too. Recently, he allegedly committed a violent crime against Carmel residents, injured a victim and terrorized a family. Unacceptable. Let me ask what many residents are likely thinking: How does this happen?! Carmel and other donut county residents pay the price when repeat offenders in Marion County cycle through the system without accountability. Our residents deserve to be safe. And police officers, who repeatedly do their jobs and put themselves in harm’s way, deserve a system that works alongside them. We’ve invested in more personnel, technology and partnerships to keep Carmel safe. Enough is enough. This cannot be our new normal. It’s time Marion County does their part and holds criminals accountable.
