Most of SEA's founders are M3s now, meaning that those of us who apply to OB/Gyn residencies will be among the very first people to use the new, non-ERAS system. Seems fitting. Hope you're all thriving, @AAMCtoday 😘! aamc.org/news/press-releases…

On a more serious note, the fact that AAMC was surprised by this news shows how severely disconnected the organization is. The issues that led to this (data hoarding, outdated software, exorbitant costs) have been known for years, and any improvements made were insufficient.

Rumor has it that Stanford will announce today that they’ll no longer participate in the USNWR medical school rankings (joining Harvard and Columbia). So who wins - and who loses - when the big names leave USNWR? Time to break it down, Winners & Losersā„¢ļø style. 🧵

"I would #WaiveTheMCAT and admit a more diverse class, but I really have to keep our US News metrics up." - real admissions staffer (to us) Thank you to Drs. Ko and Shim for emphasizing how the @usnews ranking system contributes to inequities in #MedEd! #MedTwitter @michelleko2d

This is your reminder that the #MCAT was specifically developed to keep "undesirable populations" from overwhelming medical school matriculant numbers. Such a test could "only be passed" by those who ā€œshouldā€ become physicians, and would weed out the "undesirables."

Remember when we said that the way @AAMCtoday was handling the pandemic would lead to talented, capable students being kept out of medical school? And they were so determined to shut us down that they hired a PR firm and invented the ā€˜Fauci Effect?’ We remember! #WaiveTheMCAT

Breaking: An American Bar Association panel has voted to drop a requirement that law school applicants take the LSAT or another standardized admissions test on.wsj.com/3UT0yIq

Sounds familiar (though somehow handled slightly better)

Seems like this website might be about to go the way of the dinosaurs, so here’s one last call to our buddy Alex… if you’re out there, get in touch! We miss you!

Just a quick point of clarity… Students for Ethical Admissions has no connection to Students for Fair Admissions. Unlike them (and despite what you may have been told!), we were actually formed by students…

"In the lawsuits, Students for Fair Admissions, an anti-affirmative action group, has sued Harvard and UNC for allegedly discriminating against Asian Americans (at Harvard) and white students (at UNC)." usatoday.com/story/opinion/2…

Also, one day we need to talk about how the entire process from applying to med school to paying for licensure exams (and associated resources) to sub-I’s to applying for residency is not a process that is made for us first gen/underserved folk. My bank account is weeping.

#MedTwitter Worried applicant from Puerto Rico here, my med sc has not uploaded most of our MSPEs yet. Electricity, WiFi, cell signal are still unreliable, delaying this process. Can we submit our application without it? Will it affect the way our applications are reviewed? #ERAS
