What a daggum treat to be asked to share a little hometown excellence with two fellow travelers from Canada! This was my first ever time guesting on a podcast & I couldn't be happier that it was to discuss these two Dallas classics at length. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
🔫 437 - HANDGUN (1983) POSITIVE ID (1986) ft. @EvanGordon 🔫 This week we discussed 80s rape-revenge films set in Texas that are surprisingly thoughtful in their psychological drama and also double as methodical examinations of American gun culture/identity fraud. Links ⬇️

Love the Tony Scott BTS stuff that's been popping up. I rewatched Unstoppable last week and Tony's legacy is untouchable, the only director who ever did and ever will derail a train for art. His absence is not just literal, when he died Hollywood stopped making movies like him.
Tony Scott directing 9-year-old Dakota Fanning behind the scenes of MAN ON FIRE. The gentleness, trust and emotional focus they share is incredible. "Damn, you break my heart." Wow.

Yes, my precious, handmade $10,000,000 low budget movie <3 a grassroots effort for everyone involved. With only $10,000,000 to play with basically all the cast and crew had to work for free. We couldn't even afford a craft services table, so my wife had to make everyone lunch.
"These two will go down as the greatest low-budget horror movies of all time.

WAX: or THE DISCOVERY OF TELEVISION AMONG BEES is actually the first movie to stream on the internet, a whole 4 years ahead of Party Girl.
PARTY GIRL was released 31 years ago today. The film became the first feature movie ever to premiere on the internet, with a digital release accompanying its theatrical debut in 1995, years before online movie distribution became commonplace.

Very excited to be discussing a double bill of my favorite movies shot right here in Dallas with two Canadian movie podcasters this week! One of the best pairings I've ever put together. Blu rays by @FunCityEdition & @KLStudioClassic.

Used to think poliziotteschi had the best movie titles but now I think it's pinku eiga flicks that take the crown. Yeah, LIVE LIKE A COP DIE LIKE A MAN rocks but who wouldn't want to watch PERVERT WARD: ASSAULT THE WHITE UNIFORM or GROPER TRAIN: BUTT BOASTING or HORSE WOMAN DOG??

I will always remember when I saw Frances Ford Coppola do a Q&A and the first audience question was "more of a comment" about how FFC's son died and that experience influenced his filmmaking from that point on. One of the worst things I've ever seen.
"there's no such thing as a stupid question" have you ever been to a movie Q&A

To b clear, my vitriol is not about him using it, I'd likely simply sneer at that in private. It's about him using his cache 2 promote this and attempt to push the industry toward it. They need him. 1 Trillion spent on generative AI & it's not saving anyone or changing film yet.

The downstream effects of Eric Clapton taking one little heroin nap have been disastrous for his homeland.
Opened my window in the UK and police came round and installed this. Was told its illegal to open windows and got a £200 fine. This country is a joke
Community note
There is no UK law making it illegal to open a window, and police do not issue fines for doing so. The image shows a standard window restrictor cable, which is a common safety device installed by homeowners or landlords to prevent falls and improve security. legislation.gov.uk hse.gov.uk gov.uk/private-rentin…

Culling my letterboxd today by unfollowing anyone on there who went to see the new star war but not I Love Boosters on opening weekend.

No offense, actually I take that back I mean this with offense, if you are a childless adult and went to see a new star war this weekend I think you are a mental infant and I find your taste abject. Dictated from my ivory tower where I'm watching Hisayasu Satō softcore flicks.

Went to a Cineopolis for the first time to see I Love Boosters (great movie!!) and the whole thing was projected in the wrong aspect ratio, cropped on all sides. Subtitles were missing, credits truncated, every shot too zoomed in. Also people talked the whole time lol.

Chiming in on the discourse to say movie release years should just be whatever year you see it for the first time. Escape From New York? 2017. Body Double? 2020. The Thing? 2010. All three Austin Powers movies came out in 2002.
Hey @letterboxd, OBSESSION is a 2026 movie. Nobody cares about festival release dates!
