I’m currently writing a research paper on #DAKAN and recently learned that the director, Mohamed Camara, struggled to find actors willing to take on the roles in the film. As a result, he played Bakary, Sori’s father, himself and cast his brother to play Manga.

Before Tuesday, I had been struggling to write a non-fiction piece for months. I wanted it to be original and ambitious in form but was unsure about the shape or structure to give it to achieve that. You can't believe where the best possible idea came from.

It came from a brief conversation I overheard a JS1 student have with his friend about their Catechism classes. If/when the story gets accepted, I'll walk up to that boy and tell him about the impact he made on a senior secondary school teacher whose writing life was stalling!

No, you actually weren't I did it on the Commonwealth X post, same day the links to the stories were shared. I even emailed the Commonwealth that same day. Check the date you posted on Reddit and the date I quoted the post and commented on it, which led to a thread.

After promising to investigate, the Commonwealth releases a statement like this. Do they think we all go about using AI tools to detect AI writing, and that a writer would agree they used AI if contacted? Save what's left of your faces, People, but an ugly precedent has been set.
Four days ago, not long after the links to the winning stories were posted, I read "The Serpent in the Grove" and suspected subterfuge. I posted about it, then quietly emailed my observations in detail to The Commonwealth team. They just responded to me. Fingers crossed.

The major problem is that AI (Claude, I mostly suspect) was involved in that story, in whole or in part. I can stake my kidney on it.

An X user made a post that Chioma, Davido's wife, was unfaithful and HIV-positive. This notorious trend of defaming people on X for impressions and pay is troubling. Labelling such extreme acts as free speech is dishonest. One, Swanky, has been sentenced. Yes, I hope for more.
