It is with a very heavy heart that I advise friends, and colleagues, and followers of Richard Lehman of his passing. His daughter Hannah wishes the news to be shared widely among his academic and medical circles. Richard had been unwell but was active and generous in supporting many of us, right until the end. He was also active on this platform, advocating for patients tirelessly. Richard, my friend, you will be missed. ❤️

Bravo! @hmkyale explains that our choice is between ‘a system that has finally integrated the science of aging into cardiovascular care or one that continues to treat our most common patients as exceptional cases. Our science must finally and fully reflect the people we serve’.

Interesting post about the possible consequences of patients leaving it late in the day to notify the anaesthesia team of mounjaro use. tl;dr changed risk assessment and needed precautionary intubation to prevent aspiration from delayed gastric emptying. reddit.com/r/mounjarouk/comm…?

Interesting to revisit this after nearly a quarter of a century. I fear that the doctor-patient relationship is still more bogus than real. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

Annual versus less frequent mammographic surveillance in people with #BreastCancer aged 50 years and older in the UK (Mammo-50) thelancet.com/journals/lance… The Mammo-5⃣0⃣ trial, a multicenter, phase 3 randomized study conducted across 114 NHS hospitals in the UK, evaluated whether less frequent mammography (2-yearly after conservation surgery and 3-yearly after mastectomy) is non-inferior to annual mammograms in terms of breast cancer-specific survival in women aged 50 years or older who are recurrence-free 3 years post curative surgery. With 5235 women randomly assigned and a median follow-up of 5.7 years, the study found no significant difference in 5-year breast cancer-specific survival between the annual and less frequent mammography groups (98.1% vs. 98.3%), demonstrating non-inferiority. Recurrence-free interval, overall survival, and event detection through emergency admissions or symptomatic referrals were also comparable, supporting the consideration of less frequent mammography for this population. @drpeterdonnelly @ProfAMThompson @DrSueHartup @PeterHall001 @OncoAlert 🚨
