Junior Minister Joanne Bunting and Junior Minister Aisling Reilly formally opened the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) Summit. Providing the opening address in Belfast, the Junior Ministers paid tribute to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors for the contribution they make in helping to shape policy and deliver essential services. They said the experience, leadership and innovation within the sector are essential when it comes to improving outcomes for our communities and helping to shape a more inclusive and resilient society. @NICVA

First Minister Michelle O’Neill, deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly and Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald have announced that Belfast-based tech firm Kainos is creating 341 new jobs over the next three years. Text: As Executive Ministers, we collectively and unequivocally condemn the disorder, violence and intimidation we witnessed in our communities last night. Events on the streets here caused significant harm to communities, spread fear and risked innocent lives. No community benefits from these actions. The incident in north Belfast on Monday was deeply shocking. While we understand the strength of feeling about what happened, it is now subject to legal proceedings, and justice must be allowed to run its course. First Minister Michelle O’Neill and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly have spoken with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer following last night’s scenes of disorder. They were clear that what was witnessed on the streets here last night is deeply damaging to communities and puts innocent lives at risk. The First Minister and deputy First Minister reaffirmed with him their collective commitment to protecting communities, upholding the rule of law, and working together to keep people safe. They continue to appeal for calm.
