Local councils have a perverse incentive to grant planning permission to convert farmland into solar arrays or data centres so they can charge and collect business rates on converted sites.
This needs to be addressed.

It comes across very badly to voters to be told they are blockers, nimbys and obstructionists and to see a politician chanting meaningless slogans. I think Labour has done itself a huge amount of harm by attacking voters and nature.

Update..I have been informed by @SEGROplc liaison officer that this section of the bund is not being removed yet and he has informed the contractors of the nesting Skylarks again for which Iโm grateful.
Fingers crossed theyโll be kept safe.

We need our best farmland for food and nature
EDF, who are behind the South Brooks Energy Park which is 2700 acres of prime farmland. For some reason they were happy for our MP Tony Vaughan to share with us a small section of their correspondence which talks about using concrete shoes to hold the panels in place as an alternative to piling. So basically thousands of concrete footings laid into some of the best agricultural land in the countryโฆ but itโs only for 40 years ๐คช
