The popularity of street festivals shows that there’s enormous public support for pedestrianized streets in Toronto. That’s why I’m bringing forward a motion to the next city council meeting, seconded by Councillor Chris Moise, who launched the Church Street pedestrianization pilot, to create a Pedestrian Streets Program for Toronto. Pedestrian streets are proven to contribute to the success of local businesses and residents’ quality of life. I’m asking city staff to identify the right streets for festivals, seasonal and permanent initiatives, and report on resource requirements, and where it works considering safety and functionality, to create pedestrianized streets across Toronto. Many global cities including Paris and Copenhagen, and as close to home as Montreal, have successful pedestrian streets - and it’s time that Toronto become the world class city we aspire to be.

Alright Toronto, you have your orders: film all bike cops riding not following traffic laws to the absolute minute letter.

Given the recent police violence perpetrated against a cyclist on Queen's Quay, TPS' statement in support of that violence and the silence from City Hall, it's probably time we ride. Strength in numbers. Bring friends. Share widely. Ride bikes.

These lobbyists know less about the law than their constituents. Very on brand of them to defend violent behaviour of officers. We saw this in Devon Fowlin’s case, Hasani Ogilvie’s case, Defonte Miller, etc. They benefit from upholding the violent system of policing that presently exists. There is a direct causal link between the removal of speed cameras on Parkside Drive and a 235% increase in speeding. This isn't neutral: people have lost their lives on Parkside. @fordnation's meddling in municipal affairs is literally putting lives at risk.
