Often #pitbulladvocate try to claim “they’re all very different breeds”, but that’s just the shell game with breed names and shows that they don’t know shit about these dogs or their history. It’s a tactic to obscure the breed. Here’s a thread on why they aren’t “different dogs”.

For people who wonder why I no longer support the shelter/rescue industry, it’s because of their deceptive practices. Not only with hiding bite records and sanitizing records, but flat out lying about breed issues just to get dogs adopted. Take for instance the affenpinscher.

I could literally look up hundreds of different breeds and find hundreds of mislabeled #pitbulls in breeds the dog couldn’t conceivably be, but the fact remains that shelters and rescues lie.

Every #adoptdontshop person says you can “find a rescue dog in every breed”, but it’s far from the truth. These shelter rescue people also harp about everyone else mislabeling other dogs as pits, but they literally label pits as every other breed to try and move them #banpitbulls

She’d need to check with local laws as many have leash ordinances. If the neighbor is in an apartment as well, she can always alert the apartment manager to the issue. It’s a huge liability for them to have loose dogs running around, especially aggressive breeds.

Even if a dog owner thinks their dog is nice, thus it’s ok to let the dog roam, they’re still being an entitled asshole. Their dog is nice to them and in front of them, but that doesn’t mean the dog will continue being “nice” when they aren’t around (studies support this).

I would highly, highly encourage her to document and report each and every time the dog is at large. Photos are good, video is better. In some municipalities the police handle animal control, in others it’s a separate entity. She needs to check with her municipality.
