Maine continues to show why Ranked Choice Voting works. In crowded elections, voters don't have to worry about spoilers or vote-splitting. Candidates are encouraged to reach beyond their base and earn support from a broader coalition of voters. And instead of electing winners with only a fraction of the vote, Ranked Choice Voting ensures candidates must earn majority support. After multiple election cycles, Ranked Choice Voting has become a normal and successful part of elections in Maine and voters are seeing the benefits. Michigan deserves those same benefits. More voice. More choice. Majority winners. Elections where voters can vote their hopes instead of their fears. Want to help bring Ranked Choice Voting to Michigan? When former Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan ended his independent campaign for Michigan governor, he cited a desire not to be a "spoiler." That's a common concern in choose-one elections. With ranked choice voting, independents can run without that risk – giving voters more choices.

In choose-one elections, candidates can win with just a small % of the vote. And voters have to worry whether their vote will be “wasted” on a candidate who can’t win. But Mainers don’t have that problem. That’s the power of ranked choice voting.
In yesterday’s Dem primaries for Maine gov & CD-2, no candidate has more than 32% of first-choice support. But with ranked choice voting, voters will still get a majority winner. Without an extra runoff. This is how ranked choice voting delivers in Maine.

The NAACP is condemning the U.S. Supreme Court's latest decision allowing Alabama to use a congressional map previously found to be intentionally discriminatory against Black voters, warning that the ruling marks another dangerous step in the dismantling of voting rights in the state and across the country. The Court's action follows its most recent decision in Louisiana v. Callais, which has triggered racial gerrymandering efforts across the South. Read more: naacp.org/articles/naacp-con…

Ranked choice voting rewards candidates who campaign positively & speak to ALL voters – even asking to be their second choice. As Maine governor candidate Nirav Shah shares, "second choices are still pretty good."
In this upcoming election, I’d be honored to be your first choice, but if not, I’d love to be your second choice! Because second choices are still pretty good…. most of the time. 😎
