Building a Fair Work Framework for employers of Scotland’s autistic workforce | SG funded, autistic-led research by @IntoWork57@CornerstoneScot & @EBS_Global
Our project aims to better understand the experiences of autistic people in Scottish workplaces, mapping such experiences against Scotland's Fair Work Framework, to produce a blueprint for better employment of Scotland's workforce.
Offering flexible working helps recruit and retain great people.
Air Traffic Control Provider NATS used the Fair Work Tool. It helped them adopt flexible working and keep people healthy and motivated.

It's disheartening that so few junior staff in particular feel they can't disclose their diagnosis
It's important to remember that even in work #Autistic people face many barriers- it's not just about getting the job, it's about feeling supported to succeed in the role!
70% of employed autistic people have shared that they are autistic with someone at work but only 30% have disclosed it to HR.
77% (aged 35 - 44) and 79% (senior roles) disclose their diagnosis but disclosure drop to 60% for more junior staff.

If you are neurodivergent, what types of accommodations have helped you at work?
*My neurodivergent students are researching workplace accommodations. They’re doing their own research, but I said I’d be happy to tweet out this question as well and to share with them what I hear!
Interesting to hear on #bbcgms this morning- the report by @AutismScotland and @scottishautism found that 96% of people surveyed support the need for an autism comissioner ⬇️
Our Deputy CEO @CharleneTait_SA and Director of @AutismScotland, @RobHoll, were on #bbcgms@BBCScotland this morning highlighting the case for an autism commissioner and the findings of our joint report which is published today, showing overwhelming support for this.

We've completed part 1 of our Fair Work Autism research (surveys!), now we're onto part 2 - follow up interviews with autistic people and with employers to gain deeper information. I had my follow up interview (autistic person) with Jos and it was great
