The George and Mary Turek Hall of Science is scheduled to finish construction in 2024. To better prepare CC for this giant leap forward in technology and educational tools is Amy Ely, our new Director @dccstem@

We visited the George & Mary Turek Hall of Science construction site today & talked about the on-site concrete production, steel framing, poured concrete floors & the materials queuing around the grounds. The logistics involved to keep it all in motion are mind boggling! #WeAreCC
Today, NASA took an enormous step toward taking humans back to the moon as part of #Artemis III. Our students will be learning all about #Artemis in the George & Mary Turek Hall of Science beginning in January of 2023 #WeAreCC#TeachMeGDK#nerding
While #Artemis I is uncrewed, a manikin named "Commander Moonikin Campos" is among the test devices flying aboard @NASA_Orion. The name honors NASA engineer Arturo Campos, who helped bring the Apollo 13 crew safely home to Earth. nasa.gov/specials/moonikin-c…
As stunning an image of our nearby universe as I have seen. Deep within the Eagle Nebula, find the “Pillars of Creation,” a stellar nursery made famous by the Hubble Telescope. Now laid bare by the infrared cameras of the @NASAWebb telescope.
Hey Twitter friends! ICYMI, I took on a new role as Director of STEM @DCCShamrocks and would love it if you’d give me a follow @DCCSTEM . I’ll still be publishing amazing #STEM content, just from a new account! Check out this morning’s tweet from NBAA-BACE
Kids are growing in a world where commercial space is turning science fiction in to reality --opening up so many exciting possibilities. I don't think we need to crush their dreams by perpetuating the belief you need to be hand picked by NASA to become a 'real' astronaut.
In #SamplingMars, I’m building a real science treasure chest, and my latest samples may be the most valuable yet. Some have organic molecules – but from ancient biology, or another process? Sending them back to Earth could help us figure it out.

ALT Photo from NASA's Perseverance rover shows a rocky slope, with two drill holes visible in a flat, foreground rock. Part of the rover's robotic arm -- and its shadow -- are visible at the left.
ALT Close-up photo from NASA's Perseverance rover shows a flat rock on Mars, with two drill holes where it has collected rock core samples. Also visible is a shallow patch of rock, about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter, which has been ground flat by the rover's abrading drill bit.
ARTEMIS I UPDATE: The rollout of @NASA_SLS & @NASA_Orion to Launch Pad 39B has now moved up to tomorrow, the evening of Aug. 16, ahead of the targeted Aug. 29 launch. Stay tuned for more information as well as ongoing coverage.
Space is an integral piece of the George & Mary Turek Hall of Science! The new #STEM wing will house an #Observadome to teach our students about physics, the stars & more! Before that, let’s keep up with the #Artemis missions, taking us back to the moon 🌙 @DCCShamrocks#nerding
Ten shoebox-size secondary payloads, called CubeSats, are hitching a ride to space on SLS for #Artemis I, and several other investigations are flying inside @NASA_Orion.
Join us live today at 5 p.m. EDT to learn about the lunar science payloads >> nasa.gov/nasalive

“We went to a clearing and sat down to look up at the Moon. And [my father] started narrating the Moon landing.”
Meet Dr. Bhavya Lal, associate administrator for Technology, Policy, and Strategy, and the event 53 years ago that led her to work at @NASA: go.nasa.gov/3zw3ke5
ALT Dr. Bhavya Lal poses with a rocket engine. Wearing a grey professional jacket and dress pants Dr. Bhavya Lal leans on an F-1 rocket engine that towers three times her height. The massive rocket engine is metallic grey and covered with pipes and bolts throughout. The circumference of the cone-shaped rocket is at least three times her height in length at its base and narrows towards the top. The rocket sits on a cement display and the background of the image is a wide-open field with a distant tree line and a clear blue sky visible. To the bottom right of the image is a blue placard with white text that reads "F-1 Engine".
Just released: @NASA's 2022 edition of the International Space Station Benefits for Humanity publication — containing a trove of examples of how the @Space_Station touches our lives in meaningful ways every day, and proof that we are all space people.

You’re hot and you’re cold… 🎵
#NASAWebb is split into a “hot side” and “cold side” by its sunshield. The sunshield will always be facing the Sun to block out heat and light, as Webb's mirrors need to stay extremely cold to observe faint heat signals in the universe!

Powered by four RS-25 engines and twin solid rocket boosters, NASA’s Space Launch System rocket produces 8.8 million pounds of thrust to propel the agency’s #Artemis missions to the Moon.
