I have been a Christian of the Presbyterian Church all my life. I started off in the Basel Mission Church. These past weeks may be months I have been saddened by all I have read about what is going on at the summit of the Church. I have seen petitions, and letters even from some from people whose dedication to the Church I do not even qualify to question. Perception plays a crucial role in governance as it influences how the Christians view their Church and its actions. The way people perceive Church policies, actions, and leaders can impact their trust in the Church and their willingness to comply with laws and regulations. Positive perception can lead to greater member support and cooperation, while negative perception can result in distrust, resistance, and even protests. Therefore, good governance means one needs to consider and manage public perception to maintain legitimacy and effectiveness. More voices have been raised publicly and privately about the governance of our Church than ever before. Let us listen to the words of Michael Jackson in the song the “Man in the Mirror”): « I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change »
