On March 7, 1945, a First Army unit, surprised to find the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen intact, seized it. This created a vital foothold across the Rhine. Thousands of Soldiers crossed the bridge, hastening the end of WWII in Europe, before the bridge collapsed on March 17.

In April, First Army will kick off a (re)constitution symposium at the Army War College. The goal is to establish a timeline for building a new division from scratch. The symposium will focus on three pillars necessary to complete this mission: Manning, training, and equipping.
