Draft Oped : More Soldiers In DC to Deter Crime is not a good idea . This Still need editing! But you get the message smile . 1. The location where the Soldiers Got Shot has one of the highest concentration of police officers anywhere in the world. A determined Person with a gun can shoot and kill or injure any place anytime ,,. IE. Assassination attempt on @POTUS and Killing of Charlie K . 2. 500 More Soldiers immediately ordered even before we know if the Soldiers were still alive, give reason that the @WhiteHouse is Shooting from the Hip and not using the National Security Council to design an appropriate response. I think The current Deployment of Soldiers can be described as performative. 3. Our Soldiers are Not like A Republican Guard used by Authoritarian regimes around the world that are used to suppress opposition to their regime. We are not Russia , North Korea, Iran or China. 4. A Federal Judge had just issued a ruling that the deployment of Soldiers to DC was illegal. Case pending further appeal. 5 . Deploying more Soldiers to DC is a hip shot . Sadly These gun killings happen on American streets daily. In this case it’s been called a Targeted Attack or Ambush . Future Deployment of additional Soldiers to DC should not be escalated to look like a Combat Operation. These are combat trained Soldiers not police. The rules of engagement must be clear if not the Soldiers could be looking at every person on DC Streets as a potential threat . 6. The Administration should re examine the response by adding more Soldiers on streets of DC . This Attack should not be used as a justification for more aggressive deportations. Use the @FBI to go prevent these type attacks and not used as deportation agents. 7. The knee-jerk reaction to deploy more Soldiers in DC to deter crime is not the solution. We must carefully consider the implications of such actions and ensure that the response is measured and appropriate. Let us not escalate the situation by turning our streets to look like a combat zone. Let us pray for the injured Soldiers and reflect on how we can address crime and violence in a more effective and sustainable manner. 8. God Bless America!
