Congratulations to Dr Warwick Tarboton on his 80th birthday! Not only is he one of our South Africa's greatest ornithologists and naturalists, but he is also a wonderful person, and an inspiration and role model to others. He has been my friend and mentor for 32 years.
More mixed news from #Gough as the figures & footage are in from the MacGillivrayโs Prions nesting in Prion Cave. In a nutshell: good breeding success this year, but we now have evidence of a resumption in mouse predation ๐ Full details in our NEW BLOG tinyurl.com/3yzmtem3
Data chapter 6: my last bit of PhD data is published! In @BehavEcol, @mandy_ridley, @kiwi_sjc and I show that helpers don't help when it's hot, particularly when there are many helpers, explaining limited buffering effects of cooperation in some species. academic.oup.com/beheco/advaโฆ

The Fitz is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Peter Mundy. Prof Mundy trained many of the students that passed through the doors of the Fitz and was highly influential in the the field of Southern African ornithology, particularly in relation to vultures. R.I.P
RIP Prof. Peter Mundy. You will be remembered for you contributions to the study of vultures, your authorship of "Vultures of Africa", but importantly also for your mentoring of young Zimbabwean biologists and conservationists. @BirdLifeAfrica@BirdLife_SA@BirdLife_News
Happy to have this paper out and stoked at the inclusivity of #globalsouth authors! So important for the narrative. This also marks 10 years since the start of my PhD on this topic with @graemecumming at the @Fitztitute.
