Good map for out of towners going to the World Cup matches at “Miami Stadium” — the stadium is in fact not in City of Miami but there’s ways to get there via public transit and designated express shuttles for ticket holders ⚽️

Kiddo & I are going to attend one of the Zoom sessions. We doubt they'll actually teach anything useful, though. It sucks that @MayorDaniella & the @MiamiDadeBCC won't allow disabled people access to @IRideMDT b/c the STS contractor pays them to so we can't attend in-person.
Miami-Dade Civics Academy is now open for registration! Free classes in person and on Zoom starting June 23. Learn how local government works and make your voice heard. As part of our Miami-Dade 250 celebration, this is your chance to shape our future.

The 5 St pedestrian bridge project in South Beach has no activity these days after breaking ground last year. It’s supposed to be done by fall 2026. As I understand it, there’s an issue between the developers and FPL. The design team reviewed a survey conducted by FPL and found the space they can use for the foundation has been reduced due to FPL utilities present. Before the most recent survey was given to the developers, Commissioner David Suarez said FPL gave the wrong location to their underground power lines multiple times causing a lengthy delay. Commissioner Matteo-Salinas was not optimistic about the future of this bridge, saying at a May 13 meeting: “I don’t think this is ever going to get off the ground.” She introduced an item to explore the idea of having an over-water bridge instead. Seems we’ll know soon if this project is no-go as was originally planned. Btw this was a public benefit promised in the development agreement for Five Park.

Now they’re asking federal taxpayers to bail out a significant portion of Miami-Dade’s ill-planned metropolitan transportation system. My opponent, Carlos Gimemez, guided the short-term thinking behind the underutilized busway from Florida City into downtown Miami. Rail would have been the better choice, just like every other major metro areas. Transportation from South Dade and West Kendall is still a nightmare. Time to turn the page in November.

This is just like Miami's metrorail stations. Some of them have been down for God knows how long.
Frank is not happy about the broken escalator.

📢BREAKING NEWS: County commissioners trash staff for litter-strewn areas A vote to add bus shelters detoured last week as Miami-Dade commissioners blamed staff attitudes for a trash-filled county. The mayor cautioned it will only get worse if voters approve property tax breaks and don’t raise solid waste fees, while the commission chairman warned a new mental health center could devastate cleanliness. miamitodaynews.com/breaking/… #MiamiTodayNews #MiamiDade #MiamiToday #CountyCommission #SolidWasteManagement

🚌 Dozens of taxpayer-funded Proterra buses are sitting idle instead of transporting Miami-Dade residents where they need to go. ❓ Commissioner @nmilianorbis and I asked the questions taxpayers themselves would ask: How did this happen? Who is accountable? What comes next? ⚠️ It increasingly appears that Miami-Dade is not alone. Transit agencies in Philadelphia, Austin, Asheville, Everett, and Louisville have also reported serious challenges tied to Proterra buses, including reliability issues, parts shortages, and the fallout from the company’s bankruptcy. ⚠️ The County’s own report acknowledges chronic performance issues with the Proterra fleet and confirms that federal approval is being sought to replace these buses before the end of their anticipated useful life. 🔍 Miami-Dade families deserve answers. We intend to get to the bottom of how taxpayers ended up with buses that failed to reliably deliver the service they were promised, hold Proterra accountable and recover as much as possible for the taxpayers through all avenues available.

All fair points and questions. World Cup was an excellent opportunity to revamp operations given consumer preferences. We’ve provided feedback for months 🤷🏻‍♂️

@MayorDaniella @iflymia Why is a lane reserved for taxis, which no one takes, and you force traffic in other lanes? Does this make sense to you? Every other airport has ride share areas, except MIA. We are governed by morons & idiots.

Taxi unions have powerful lobbyists. There’s still no dedicated Uber pickup area at the airport, while other airports, including Fort Lauderdale, have had one for years.
