11. If you have brought lots of earloop masks and can't afford to buy proper headstrap respirators, you can always get a “mаsk brace” to improve the fit of KF94/KN95s (which are effectively the same as surgical mаsks on~90% of people). @FixTheMask

19/ If only surgical masks are available, they can be made A LOT safer w/ inexpensive brace like @FixTheMask (probably cheaper than the often mandated face shields that are probably wasting $$ in Philippines). Helps a lot in leak tests

We didn't partner with @armbrust_usa by mistake -- they make some of the best surgical masks in the business.
@masknerd tested Armbrust & 8 other surgicals with FixTheMask; Armbrust, MaskLab and Zubrex passed the N95 standard, the rest did not. docs.google.com/spreadsheets…

What's frustrating about the masks issue-- if the head of the CDC is still saying that respirators are too uncomfortable for most people (again, not true; some models may be, others not), shouldn't a big priority be to solve this rather than rely on it as a reason for inaction?

The best time to upgrade mask fit was March 2020.
With #omicron on the way, the second best time is now.

If you don’t already own a good 😷 (N95/KN95/KF94) that fits well & is comfy enough to keep on, get off Twitter NOW & buy some. Non-profit @projectn95 is affordable, helpful, & vetted. Until you get them, surgical 😷 cloth 😷 over it indoors in public immediately. #Omicron

It was a great article although you promoted surgical masks as superior airborne PPE despite the fact they dont offer respiratory protection at all & need a brace in order to be effective which you left out. Without a tight seal, the air bypasses the mask. cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/pdfs/Und…
