After a few more hours of flying small airplanes, Iβm convinced that the true measure of airmanship is how quickly and safely you can land at a suitable airport after a passenger says βI need to go to the bathroomβ while at cruise (especially in IMC).

IFR pilots, whatβs your favorite trick for making sure youβre not scrolling around to double-check the DA/MDA when your attention should be on the CDI and glideslope? @ForeFlight annotations on the plate? Sticky notes on the panel?

I just realized that different CDIs/HSIs have a different number of dots between an on-course indication and a full-scale deflection, so there is no standard βone dot deflectionβ or βtwo dot deflectionβ corresponding to the same distance/angle off course. π€―

We need a term other than βcross countryβ for flights with a landing over 50NM away. I remember the disappointment in the voices of non-pilot friends when I told them my solo XC flight only took me to a nearby town and not the other coast of the country.

These look so fun.
The Republic RC-3 Seabee is one of few piston-engined aircraft that can taxi backward thanks to its reversible propeller. This is particularly helpful when docking the amphibious aircraft. What are your thoughts on this Seabee duo? πΈ Tyson Rininger
