I’m not a flight instructor - just a Private Pilot working hard to fly like a professional..and taking lots of notes along the way! These are my flight notes!πŸš€

After a few more hours of flying small airplanes, I’m convinced that the true measure of airmanship is how quickly and safely you can land at a suitable airport after a passenger says β€œI need to go to the bathroom” while at cruise (especially in IMC).

Flying IFR is great, but sometimes it’s all about the views.

IFR pilots, what’s your favorite trick for making sure you’re not scrolling around to double-check the DA/MDA when your attention should be on the CDI and glideslope? @ForeFlight annotations on the plate? Sticky notes on the panel?

I just realized that different CDIs/HSIs have a different number of dots between an on-course indication and a full-scale deflection, so there is no standard β€œone dot deflection” or β€œtwo dot deflection” corresponding to the same distance/angle off course. 🀯

The benefits of careful fuel planning (and comparing predicted to actual time en route at waypoints) become clear once the length of your trips start to approach (or exceed) the fuel range of your aircraft. πŸ›©

Pilots who know how to fix their own airplanes are pretty cool.

Just curious - who thinks LPV approaches should be considered precision approaches with regard to IFR alternate minimums?

Has anyone tried one of the kits for converting a Bose consumer noise-cancelling headset (like the QuietComfort 35) for aviation use? This is especially tempting for passenger usage, since 100% reliability isn’t as critical there…

I stay on Twitter for content like this.
If you think this picture is breathtaking, close your eyes and imagine a 240Β° unobstructed view of the firmament around you and the muffled sound of air rushing past the windows at over 600 MPH while other jets and ATC serenade you with sporadic transmissions.. #FlightDeckMonday

In the mood for an interesting IFR rabbit hole? Determine how the words β€œRNP APCH.” on an approach plate apply to your aircraft. Hint: AC 90-119 *may* help…

I’ve learned a lot about flying from Twitter. More accurately, I learned a lot about flying from double-checking the correctness of something I was about to post, realizing I was wrong initially, and going down a rabbit hole to figure it all out… πŸ›©

We need a term other than β€œcross country” for flights with a landing over 50NM away. I remember the disappointment in the voices of non-pilot friends when I told them my solo XC flight only took me to a nearby town and not the other coast of the country.

The Republic RC-3 Seabee is one of few piston-engined aircraft that can taxi backward thanks to its reversible propeller. This is particularly helpful when docking the amphibious aircraft. What are your thoughts on this Seabee duo? πŸ“Έ Tyson Rininger
