I was reading a thread on /r/paranormal about the most cursed places in America and everyone seemed to land on California as the clear winner.
The cloudless, blue California sky is uniquely cursed, but you never hear about it given its population consists almost entirely of unwelcome transplants from even more cursed places.

I'll never forget the time some black kid found a dead seagull outside and decided to throw it around the French portable. Ended up hurling the thing at the only white girl in the class. I think he got shot later that year, I don't remember.

You're actually not allowed to feel sad in America. It's against the law to be "negative". You need to be tweaking.
This is why I don't get people who complain that Russia looks depressing during the fall season. That's the intended effect. You're supposed to feel sad sometimes.
