#UBClassof2024 Big day in our lab! Carley, Bhavishya, & Haryana graduated. My favorite lab tradition is the nested/telescoping photo. Each lab member who has left with MS or PhD is always with us at each graduation. It was getting a bit small, so I made a small poster

I am so proud of the team that Shayn Peirce-Cottler and I co-led focused on agent-based modeling of lung fibrosis and interventions. Eirini Kilikian, Claudia De Sousa Miranda Pérez, and Narshini Gunputh learned a lot and accomplished so much this week at #ICERM
Flaming cocktails celebrating math bio during Women in Mathematical Computational Biology workshop at #ICERM. Fun evening with faculty friends Elana Fertig, Rebecca Segal, Shayn Peirce-Cottler, and Jasmine Foo

Congratulations to Dr. Krutika Patidar @kru_277 on successfully defending her PhD dissertation! She is the 5th PhD graduate from my lab and the first I recruited at UB.
Our newest paper is now online. Mohammad Aminul Islam, Ph.D. developed this followup to our earlier COVID-19 agent-based model and resulting lung fibrosis. Here, we studied COVID-19 with the renin-angiotensin system and patient-specific differences: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
Our newest paper is now online. Congratulations to Jabia Mostofa Chowdhury and Eduardo Chacin Ruiz on this paper on our collaboration with Katelyn @SwindleReilly on ocular drug delivery. This is our first paper in J Pharmaceutical Sciences. jpharmsci.org/article/S0022-…
Joel Versypt hosted a great winter social for my lab, and we welcomed the Munguía-López lab too. Joel cooked way too much. They ALL had to take home leftovers bc we leave tomorrow. Shown from my lab: me, Aminul, Krutika, Nick, Kailei, Ariel, and Rajesh
I got 2 pieces of good news, which were timely as I start the onerous task of writing another MIRA submission over the next month. 1st I got the chair's letter supporting my promotion to full prof w positive notes from my colleagues & letter writers. 2nd a manuscript was accepted
I'm thankful for my colleagues, chair, letter writers and other mentors, collaborators, and trainees. They also make the effort required to persist in grant writing pay off in the end.
When hosting seminar visitors for UB CBE, I love taking them to a local waterfall after dinner. Niagara Falls with Selen Cremaschi and Aurora Munguía-López.
