Dallas Police turned to right-wing military intelligence official/Dallas oilman Jack A. Crichton shortly after the assassination to find a Russian translator for questioning Marina Oswald. Crichton recommended Ilya Mamantov, an anti-Communist activist and a Dallas oil company agent. In 1956, Crichton started up the 488th Military Intelligence Detachment of which he claimed there were "about a hundred men in that unit and about 40-50 of them were from the Dallas Police Department." His close friend, Deputy Police Chief George Lumpkin, and a fellow member of the 488th, drove the pilot car of Kennedy's motorcade. Crichton knew George de Mohrenschildt and became a director of the H.L. Hunt Foundation in July 1963 and met with the foundation's namesake on 11/23/63. Years ago, I wrote an article titled, "Who Controls the Country?" Morley says the CIA controls the past. That means, via Orwell's brilliant insight, that they control the past and future as well. The CIA runs this country and has ever since they killed JFK. They own any politician and media spokesperson of any importance. The battle to free the JFK files has never just been about the files, to me. It's to see if the people run this country or if we have no voice. The CIA has effectively destroyed the very Democracy they claim to protect by refusing to assent to the will of the people and the laws surrounding disclosure. Oh and P.S. Not one official body has EVER asked CIA for its files on the RFK assassination, which we know they have because they were in constant contact with the LAPD during the LAPD's investigation, in some case asking them to ignore legitimate suspects.
