Headwater forests are water infrastructure. Damage in Atewa will move downstream as sediment and contamination through entire river systems. Once catchments are destroyed, recovery takes decades.

A new Legislative Instrument seeking to revoke L.I. 2462 was laid in Parliament last Friday. The controversial L.I. 2462, which allows mining in forest reserves, will effectively be revoked once the new L.I. matures in 21 sitting days
