I meant I’d launch the magazine the day after securing funding — not literally tomorrow. But then I thought: to hell with it. It wasn’t a typo, it was my destiny: I’ll launch something 😂 So: Every Thursday, I’ll send out a Substack newsletter, my column. I’ll share my published pieces — I’m focused writing for media — alongside articles, essays and projects I think are worth your time. In top of that, I can commit to one substantial interview or artist write-up per week — similar to what I do for Objkt. Now, a small favour: please subscribe to the Substack en masse. Force-subscribe your partners, children and dogs. Tell them it’s for culture. Or tell them nothing, if you favour less democratic methods. If I want sponsorship or advertisers (I do, I do), the first thing anyone asks for is numbers. The link is below. DM me with suggestions, commissions, collaborations, or existential concerns. Let’s rock this joint 🖤
I’m happy to launch a magazine tomorrow — to document emerging artists in the space, write about trends, exhibitions, and cover what’s happening in media art beyond web3. What has stopped me so far is the question of sustainability. Ironically, there seem to be too many writers for oh so few readers. Many influential collectors openly claim critics are unnecessary, which makes me sceptical that a collector-supported publication model could work. Right Click Save went through a difficult period, Outland stepped away from the magazine format, platforms are sunsetting, galleries are cutting costs and simply trying to survive. Right now, it feels like there is nobody reliable to build upon — neither paid subscribers nor advertising. I was researching grants, but since I live in Barcelona, most public support goes to media in Catalan. A Catalan-language magazine about digital art, anyone? Realistically, a niche magazine only needs a small number of committed supporters to exist. So. Are there any?

Ladies and gentlemen, I interviewed the brilliant young artist @Asalkhniii We talked about bodies, distortion, painting, and why a childhood spent reconstructing dolls and drawing people with impossible proportions might actually be excellent artistic training. Link below. Repost it, you all keep saying we should support emerging artists.

A few days ago, I spoke with @IlyaBliznets about digital painting, his own practice, and the upcoming curation for @accomparts. Today is Ilya’s birthday 🎂 If you forgot the present, a retweet will do. Link below.

"Today, in feedback I received on my portfolio, the fact that I work with both digital and traditional mediums was described as a 'loss of direction'." The supposedly directionless artist is @sumeyrayucee, also known as Süm de la Creme. Her Objkt profile stands in stark contrast to her minimalist paintings. The figures are rendered in a flat graphic style that draws equally from illustration, pop art, internet culture, tattoo imagery, and fashion photography. Perspective is often simplified, and the colours are bright and saturated. A thread 🧵👇

“My frequent use of plant and animal motifs comes from my fascination with mythology, iconography and the history of religions. I mostly construct these motifs through their spiritual and symbolic energies,” Yuce explains. She speaks of the scorpion as an archetype of the subconscious and the unseen, “the Shadow — the parts of the self that people repress, fear, or avoid confronting. Its existence beneath stones, underground, and within darkness reflects those deep and mysterious chambers of the unconscious that we try to deny, even though they are an essential part of what makes us who we are. In my works, I position the scorpion both as an intuitive force that senses danger before it appears and establishes boundaries, and as an archetype that confronts a person with their own shadow. From a more esoteric perspective, the scorpion also symbolizes the end of superficiality, the destruction of the ego, and surrender to the inevitable. All of these are recurring themes that I explore in different forms throughout both my digital and physical works.”

“Every piece begins as a thought equation already resolved in my mind,” she explains. Meaning does not reside in any single symbol or figure, but in the relationships between them: between foreground and background, painting and room, protagonist and object. Each element acquires significance through its connection to another. Read the full article: blog.objkt.com/post/sum-de-l…

One day, we get older. We move on from the shitholes we used to live in. And "no rules" is suddenly no longer a mixture of alcohol, violence and sex. It's your child jumping on the bed (because beds are for sleeping not for playing). It's you jumping with him in a sequined miniskirt — and God knows where I was ever supposed to wear that skirt, because I certainly don't. It's realising that instead of burning everything down, as you once would have done, you can light up the night sky. Because there is beauty in it. When you grow up, saying what you think and caring for beauty becomes the world without rules. To Hilde 🖤 I so much hoped you'd make it, girl.

You know I hardly collect art any longer. But I'm Russian (/Italian) and I have a soft spot for ballet and balaclavas. P.S. Once, my Italian professor of economics for the performing arts told me: “I remember you. You’re the Russian with ballet issues.” 😂 P.P.S. I don’t have issues. I ADORE ballet.
Many and huge thanks to you @ForgetDali for scooping "Pyrouette"! 🙏😊

Two weeks ago, I asked whether digital painting is mature enough to be considered a movement of its own. To continue the conversation, I spoke with @Daria_Rastunina on cyberpunk, glitches, mirages, and why painting can exist far beyond the canvas. Link below. Share it like it’s the last day of your life.

When God wants to test a mere mortal, He asks her to complete a house renovation or make a website. My website is (somewhat) ready. And my first interview is with @manta_timing about his upcoming release, DROOL. Please read, share, subscribe to the Substack, tell all your friends about me. Tell your enemies as well. You never know. I now need to lie down for a week. Link below 👇
