We found that IgG antibodies binding to RBD and pseudoneutralizing antibodies had little evidence of decay in measurements up to 75 days. As potentially expected, we found IgM and IgA antibodies binding to RBD decayed at approximately 50 days. medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

We recently lost Kenrad Nelson, a giant in the field of infectious disease and a beloved @JohnsHopkinsSPH professor. Traveling the world to chase outbreaks, he was tireless, joyful, and earnest in his work - a public health hero. We will never forget him. baltimoresun.com/obituaries/…

Data modernization is sorely needed in the US. "The data issues are real." "People have been spending 80 percent of their time just collating information, taking a fax and putting it into one of their systems." We need a push "from a mindset of ‘my data’ to ‘our data.’"

The CDC is taking the first steps to modernize our nation's public health data. These initiatives will include linking state and federal public data systems, augmenting real-time data capabilities and hiring staffers for collection and analysis. politico.com/news/2022/03/21…

Having ~40% of the population infected by a single pathogen in the span of 8 weeks is remarkable and I can't think of an obvious modern precedent. Flu seasons generally have perhaps 10% infected in the span of 16 weeks. 8/9

Updated @CDCgov estimates on #COVID19 seropositivity (from both infection and vaccination, only 16 age groups in the US) look quite "optimistic" in the sense that, depending on how fast immunity wanes, there aren't many more people to infect right now. covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra…

This deep look from @zeynep at who the unvaccinated really are is spectacularly good. Eg: "The most powerful predictor of who remained unvaccinated was not age, politics, race, income or location, but the lack of health insurance." nytimes.com/2021/10/15/opini…

This could have been avoided. It should have been avoided The US has for too long entirely neglected some of the most important tools we have in this pandemic. Rapid Tests! This is an unnecessary failure of government/public health messaging and policy nytimes.com/2021/08/20/us/ab…

I do not say this lightly, but the delta variant is a seriously horrible development in terms of global health. More transmissible, more dangerous, but blunted and controlled by vaccines. We need to get those vaccines to where they are needed
