A wakeup call from personal experience
My wife SDE at Amazon sits 12 hours daily during WFH. In 2023, she developed a pilonidal cyst. We thought surgery would fix it.
Her 3rd recurrence happened on Dec 31st, 2025. Instead of celebrating New Year, we were in the Hospital. She's still in pain as I write this.
But it's not just about pilonidal cysts.
Prolonged sitting is silently destroying our bodies:
-Deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in legs)
-Chronic lower back pain & herniated discs
-Increased risk of heart disease & diabetes
-Poor circulation causing numbness & varicose veins
-Hemorrhoids & digestive issues
-Weight gain & metabolic syndrome
-Mental health decline from sedentary lifestyle
To all my trader friends grinding 12-14 hour sessions:
Your health is your greatest asset. No trade is worth losing it.
-Stand/walk for 20 mins every hour
-Use a standing desk or coccyx cushion
-Set phone alarms as reminders
-Stretch between sessions
-Stay hydrated
- Exercise once in 2 days Minimum
The market will always be there tomorrow. Your body might not recover as easily.
Take this seriously. I'm watching my wife suffer through her third surgery. Don't let this be you or someone you love.
