In two to three years time, when Starmer and his government are no doubt deeply unpopular, I hope we in the media will ask ourselves: "Why were we so supine during the long 2024 election; why didn't we hold Labour properly to account while we could, and ask more probing questions, and explore their records, rather than give them such an easy ride?".

Are they really still doing this in 2026? Protesting the term 'Labour Right' is pathetic. Just own it!

Chris Curtis, a Labour MP and Wes Streeting ally, gets very tetchy when you suggest he might be right-wing.

He was right wasn't he? And of course it was Harold Wilson who famously said that the 'The Labour Party is a moral crusade or it is nothing'.
"The Labour Party under Keir Starmer will abandon its core idealism and principles and won't even gain tactical advantage. It will be a party which gives no one a reason to vote for it, and no one will, in fact, vote for it." - David Graeber (from 2020)

he did everything American centrists want to do to the left flank, and it’s worked out precisely as anyone with two brain cells to rub together expected
One of the worst acts of hubris by any British politician.

This is an incredible result. McSweeney’s people spent years actively undermining Corbynism in order “to save the Labour Party”, only to throw away swathes of Greater Manchester, and fucking NEWCASTLE to a chaotic mix of liberals Right and Left populists. And they don’t even seem to realise what they’ve done. They’re in a collective state of denial. They still think a “big offer” or a “reset” or a “bold” King’s Speech will save them. And they’ve blocked their only life raft, their only small chance of deliverance, their most popular asset (according to consistent polls by multiple organisations) from re-entering the fray. Just an unbelievable story.

This version of the Labour Party is losing councils Corbyn held at his most unpopular and hasn't done quite as badly in London as people expected. And that's good, apparently.

The Labour leadership will soon consist of a narrow sect comprising of the Liz Kendall leadership campaign that won 4.5% of the vote, and a litany of mad bastards quoted in the Labour leaks describing anyone to the left of Gordon Brown as a “Trot”. Starmer has utterly fucked it

Theyre still running with the "Labour vs reform" line... deluded. He needs a firmware update
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer says he can win the next general election for Labour "I think we can... it’s likely to be Labour versus Reform. An election where the defining question is, what is it to be British?"

a terrible thing about uk politics is that every moment of longed for schadenfreude is always tempered by the knowledge that there's yet another truly horrible cunt waiting in the wings
💥💥💥 BREAKING 💥💥💥 Keir Starmer's allies have accused Wes Streeting of plotting to oust him from office, warning that any attempt to do so would trigger a market shock — as supporters of Streeting go to war with No10. The extraordinary developments in a series of furious briefings to media outlets tonight signal Downing Street is increasingly concerned the PM may face a leadership challenge. Cabinet unity has fractured, possibly to the point of no return between Starmer and Streeting. A spokesperson for Streeting said: “These claims are categorically untrue. Wes’s focus has entirely been on cutting waiting lists for the first time in 15 years, recruiting 2,500 more GPs, and rebuilding the NHS that saved his life.” A government source said: “Number Ten has gone into full bunker mode, turning on their most loyal cabinet members for absolutely no reason. Unfortunately there is a pattern of Keir's team briefing against his own people- they did it to Angela, Lisa, Lucy, now it's Wes's turn. A circular firing squad won’t help the government out of the hole we’re in." But a supporter of Starmer says tonight that they conducted a recent exercise with investors where they were told that any alternative to Starmer and Rachel Reeves would result in a significant rise in gilt yields, meaning higher government borrowing costs. That would be ruinous for the public finances and plunge the UK into an economic crisis, the person added, a clear indication that No10 is seriously concerned about a leadership plot.

If were an agent of the state trying to ensure that a new left wing party didn't become any kind of threat, I would simply do everything in my power to prevent alliances with other parties and to exclude individuals or media organisations with large popular followings.

Paramount axed Colbert report because Trump didn’t like it, they give $1.5 billion to South Park, who- literally the next day- go after him 10x harder than Colbert ever has. Genius.

Sooooo I don’t think people realize how absolutely historic that episode of South Park is going to be… if you don’t understand the intent of that episode (to get Paramout sued by Trump as a repercussion for them giving into him and firing Colbert)… this is going to get nuclear

btw vote splitting doesn't even work as an argument here because even if every Corbyn voter switched back to Labour, Reform would still win 323 seats (a working majority) with Labour floundering on just 205. The problem is everyone hates Starmer!
