Imagine money is a hockey game. One team has all of the best of everything. Equipment, gear, coaches, everything. On the other team, most of the players can't afford good gear or coaches. Many don't even have helmets.
The well equipped team wants to win more than anything in the world, and they'll slam anyone into the boards in pursuit of that goal of just being seen as the best. Just part of the game. Some actually enjoy it, some just see it as necessary to get what they want. Few care that most of the other team doesn't have pads or helmets.
They congratulate themselves for being so talented and hard-working that they win all of their games.
Every once in awhile, someone on the other team scores some goals and gets to switch teams. Usually it was someone who could afford some gear already.
On the well-equipped team, they also compete with each other. Winning the game isn't enough, they all want to be celebrated as the best on the team.
I really think this is how billionaires see wealth.
