Things don't look good for #RECAF #RECO #RECON investors. The dream of accumulating wealth on the back of poor rural people is blowing in the wind. The traders have spoken....

#RECAF is going to melt to 0. You should thank the Globe and Mail instead of harassing them.

The @namibiansun article says that the company sees paying politicians is a good way to 'get in to leaders good books'- yet says the company is 'acting in good faith' Which is it? @toys_ndjebela Please help us understand. It's impossible to follow this logic.

@toys_ndjebela The article says that opposition to the project has been 'sporadic' and based on 'perceived environmental concerns' while there has been constant community resistance ignored by the @namibiansun and the environmental and social concerns have been well documented.

@toys_ndjebela was recently brought before the media ombudsman when @namibiansun ran full-page ads disguised as news claiming the project had full support of locals. He blamed it, implausibly, on a mistake by a junior copy editor.

#ReconAfrica has hired Alvarez and Marsal, bankruptcy specialists. You hire A and M for one reason only. Bye bye Recon. Good riddance. Let us all work together to accelerate the demise of one of the world's worst companies. #SaveTheOkavangoDelta

Since the Namcor deal was announced. $Recaf has lost 25% of its value. And why is #Namcor selling when #Reconafrica is supposedly the license to print money? Right, to make at least a little money for nothing. #Reconafrica #oilandgas #Namibia #Botswana

Very important blog by environmental law researcher @Louisedt on the significance of the Shell judgment in South Africa with some pointers for dealing with environmental transgressions and lack of free prior and informed consent by #ReconAfrica in Namibia
In this post, I discuss the recent Shell judgment and its significance for social and ecological justice in South Africa. Thank you @Verfassungsblog for the opportunity to contribute!

"In revoking Shell’s rights to explore the seabed of South Africa’s Wild Coast, a panel of three judges sided with rural communities, fishermen, traditional healers and environmental activists against the company and South Africa’s government."
Shell Global was ordered this week to stop plans to explore a pristine South African coastline for oil and gas. The ruling represents a rare victory for environmental interests in a country that has long favored development over the environment. nyti.ms/3cI7Iy9
