Hereโs my take:
The story of FFXV isnโt bad.
The disorganization of content release is what made it bad.
Ten years later, I still encourage people to play it, especially now that the content is much more accessible and a lot less expensive.

No one asked, but this is how I recommend playing the game to get as much of the lore as you can:
- Play through chapter 1
- watch Kingsglaive
- play til chapter 9
- watch the short anime series Brotherhood (not the Ardyn episode)
- play through the rest of the game

FFXV is one of the worst FF. Entire game lore is locked behind DLC, Kings Edition, movie and Books. Never made me care about Lunafreya, one massive map but no other environments, not as epic a journey and disappointing final boss fight.
Versus looked so more promising.
