Rachel Reeves blaming forecourts is pure deflection. At 160p per litre: Tax: 80p Forecourt profit: 7p The government takes over 50%, which is around 10x more than forecourts. But somehow it’s the petrol stations fault? The public can see straight through this.
Ministers have 'zero credibility' on petrol crisis: Asda boss in furious blast at Labour as prices top £1.50 a litre... after Chancellor and PM claimed forecourts were 'profiteering' trib.al/HztYw43

To those saying it will take years to get new oil & gas out the North Sea… It won’t. 👉 Jackdaw - can be producing gas in 3 months. 👉 Rosebank - can be producing oil in the autumn. Miliband just needs to approve them. Everyday he waits, the further away this supply gets.

Ed Miliband lecturing us on the climate while burning £800k on private jets and luxury suites in Brazil. Champagne for the eco-elites, poverty for the British taxpayer. The sheer, unadulterated hypocrisy of the Net Zero cult on full display. They don’t want to save the planet; they just want to control you.

The Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea could be up and running in just a few months. Enough gas to heat 1.6 million homes. Every single drop will go into our pipes. Ed Miliband is blocking it. Madness.

So the UK's 10-year gilt yield - the cost of government borrowing - is now up at 2008 levels. An 18-year high The difference is that, back then, UK national debt was 48pc of GDP, and now it's the best part of 100pc. So the debt service costs are much MUCH heavier. Of the £14.3bn the UK government borrowed in February alone, no less than £13bn of that was spent on interest on existing debts - a situation which is not only unsustainable, but very close to provoking a disastrous financial collapse. Yet still, our national discourse is all about more spending, more borrowing, more "state intervention". When is the Labour party – and much of the listless, unthinking rump of the UK's political and media class – going to start acknowledging reality? WHEN ....?

Days-long electricity blackouts have been par for the course for months (even years) in Cuba but yesterday (Monday) it went much further. Its electricity generating system “totally disconnected” across the whole island nation, which had no electric power anywhere as a result. There are still those that disparage Cuban communism but it will go down in history as the first ever country to achieve net zero. Viva la revolución!

Rachel Reeves praises Canada and Norway for increasing their oil and gas production… …whilst BANNING new production in Britain. Labour support foreign oil and gas industries more than our own.

Energy bills in July 2024: £1,568 Energy bills in April 2026: £1,641
This Labour government is fighting people's corner. We're cutting energy bills. We're calling out price gouging. And just now the Prime Minister has set out further support for those who use heating oil. Affordability is the number one issue, and we're determined to act.

Typical of the ignorance that pollutes twitter on energy matters. For a start almost all UK North Sea gas is piped ashore and enters the national distribution system. Cheaper than imported LNG. Oil can be exported direct from the North Sea. But it still pays 78% tax to UK Treasury, employs thousands in well-paid jobs and counts as a UK export, so helping our balance of payments. But other than that oil and gas from North Sea obviously do nothing for us.
Replying to @afneil
Why what good would the north sea do for us, its not nationalised so anything it produces is sold on the international market anyway.

⚡️ Starmer turns down Trump: Britain won’t send ships to the Strait of Hormuz According to The Telegraph, France, Germany and South Korea are also not ready to deploy ships. Japan and Australia have likewise said they do not plan to send naval forces to the Middle East to escort vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, reports that the administration of Donald Trump still plans to announce this week the creation of a coalition to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Which countries are ready to join it has not yet been disclosed. Your bets?
Mar 14
🚢The Strait of Hormuz now resembles a real-life version of the game "Battleship" Similar videos are actively appearing online. For example, in this footage — a burning ship filmed nearby from another vessel. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow passage between Iran and Oman through which about 20% of the world's oil and liquefied gas passes.

NEW: PM is also expected in his news conference this morning to take aim at political opponents for their approach to the conflict in the Middle East Starmer, who has had torrid time with voters since election win, is trying to capitalise on being on the right side of public opinion. Will pledge emergency support for HHs worse hit by energy price rises. But big Qs on what is in Britain’s interests as Trump presses UK for assistance in opening up Strait of Hormuz. UK so far not committing any assets. PM expected to say later today: “Moments like this also tell you about leadership… Now, there are others who would have made a different decision two weeks ago. “They would have rushed the UK headlong into this war without the full picture of what they were sending our forces into and without a plan to get us out. “That’s not leading, it’s following. “My leadership is about standing firm for the British interest. No matter the pressure. “And I believe time will show that we have the right approach. Right on the economy and the cost of living. Right on defence and energy. “And right on this war, in the best interests of the British people.”

£3.8 million for a 200 metre bike lane. That’s £19,000 per metre. This is exactly why taxpayers across Britain are fed up. Councils are burning public money while basic services decline.

So Starmer lied about Mandelson, no question. But asking him to resign is over the top, it’s not like he ate a bit of cake, on his birthday, in his workplace brought in as a surprise by his wife. Get some perspective people!
