"Previous book, Little Disasters, features a mother whose intrusive thoughts...make her fear she is going insane. In Ashley Audrain’s, The Push, a mother also questions her sanity similar themes are explored in Nikki Smith’s debut thriller All In Her Head." The Mother in my NNF had such thoughts; her paranoia led to poisoning two teen daughters with arsenic. Shakespeare's female villains were cited at her trial, the bard being revered in 19th century psychiatric circles. This looks good! crimereads.com/shakespeare-s… via @CrimeReads

A lot of attention being paid to what is justifiably being taken away, here, material rightfully restored. Seeking to purge, “corrosive” or “ideological indoctrination” from exhibitions at the nation’s historical cultural institutions, the 2025 executive order resulted in the deinstallation of references to slavery, civil rights, Indigenous history& climate change according to a lawsuit filed against the Trump administration. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Inspired by Phoebe, have replaced my Hot Girl Walks with Frumpy But Horny Girl Walks i.e. wandering the city at sunset to admire all the shirtless male joggers while wearing no makeup and a jumpsuit that resembles a flour sack

I think it can be... healthy? fun? as a straight woman to just at least fleetingly forget about what *you* look like or how your looks compare with other women's and simply look at men.

It seems almost every memoir written by a woman recounts a formative experience of sexual assault or rape. Are there counterparts by men describing how they committed such acts? Or is it ok to reveal victimization but not being a victimizer?

The film Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt and adapted from my book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, continues to spark discussion and influence audiences. If you haven't yet watched it, it's currently on Netflix in the US. countercurrents.org/2026/06/…

I’ve been informed by folks on this site that The Hobbit and now Jane Austen are too difficult for teens. I can’t stress enough how condescending this is to teenagers. You’re taking away all the things that might bring them joy and leaving them with no pastimes but scrolling.

It's official... This morning New York City officially and permanently co-named West 8th Street as Jimi Hendrix Way. 💜 The new street sign unveiled today at the corner of 6th Avenue and West 8th Street is just down the street from Jimi Hendrix's landmark Electric Lady Studios in the heart of Greenwich Village. Stay Experienced!

I didn't want children, period, never cared how selfish that made me seem. Worked with the products of terrible parenting so think sometimes it is kinder for everyone to not reproduce. Honestly though how people confidently have children now knowing the planet wont be habitable much longer is beyond me-For Real.
I have heard many people say they don't plan to have children because of climate change. My pet theory is that they don't want children or are ambivalent about it and climate change is a selfless-sounding justification. Also: Most of them will eventually have children.

Excellent piece by @alainademop who states Mind of a Serial Killer “should not exist. It is sensationalistic, exploitative and lacks educational value” and “pays the skinniest of lip service to honoring its victims” instead focusing on “gory recreations.”theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Everyday I come across something fucking stupid in the realm of serial murder edutainment. Today, celebrity host Lakendra Tookes takes us on a tour of Bundy’s car, Dahmer’s apartment, and Gacy’s crawlspace. What’re we meant to learn from this exploitation? pix11.com/things-to-do/mind-…

Nicola Walker will watch in anything. Just crazy about -except Annika, meh- so tuning in to Alice and Steve. Playing a ferocious mother- could she be as intense aa Lady Hatton in Mary& George where seldom seen anyone chew up Julianne Moore on screen to such effect!

This is fucking insane. The Trump DOJ just stood in federal court and said with a straight face that the authoritarian regime could bulldoze the Statue of Liberty tomorrow — and there's nothing anyone could do about it. When a judge asked point-blank: "If the government decides to destroy the Statue of Liberty before anyone can sue… nothing can be done?" The DOJ lawyer answered: "I think that's right, yes." Let that sink in. They're openly admitting they believe Trump has the power to erase one of America's most sacred symbols — the literal beacon of freedom for millions of immigrants — and the courts can't stop them in time. This is authoritarian, dangerous, un-American bullshit. The Statue of Liberty isn't their property to demolish on a whim. It belongs to the American people. Wake the hell up, y'all!

Watching last episode of Hacks it occurred to me that Robby Hoffman would be perfect for the lead in a redo of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Am I right? How to pitch such a package!
