This kind of prop research has been the fandoms bread and butter for over a decade. It feels weirdly hypocritical and out of character of the community to see so many people dunking on this completely innocuous tweet.

I'll be honest, Duke is an eyesore from a basis standpoint, he's the only engine there who's from a different railway. I love his character, design and *almost* everything about him, but I'm no mongrel to ignore what the execution of his concept meant here.

Can we all take a deep breath and use our brains when spouting nonsense. I am all for an analytical, critical view of things made over 50 years ago. But by no means is Duke's story being inspired by something in Brazil racist or dated. Are you insane? Should Edward be American

Duke is literally older than this inspiration for the story. He is based off a toy model !! what are we doing here

Speaks to a fundamental misunderstanding of the series a lot of people (esp younger ppl who approach this as a Fandom™️ first and a passion project of 1 man second) the engines are not People. They do not think or have the morals of People. If you write like they do, you failed.
Suffering as duty is probably the most intrinsic trope problem in TTTE since these trains are gonna be run if they can be no matter what, and it has created an island of workaholic martyrs ready to die for a cause they both gain their life force from yet never voluntarily joined

The engines are engines. If you approach them as anything else they become shallow and worthless tropes more than anything and this disconnect splits not only a Good Thomas story from Garbage, but the understanding of fans to the Le Epic Tunnel people

Disliking GWR engines because “they all look the same” is usually a phase you move out of once you aren’t 14 years old anymore

Gotta hand it to Mattel here, i genuinely applaud the Pro Homeless stance they're taking here because when December 26th hits, and its -10 outside, everyone in a 40 mile radius of a target or walmart will be promised comfy, warm shelves to huddle around

Do people agree that Donald's accident was an intentional thing by him? I feel like that's the connotation the book is trying to convey?

Skarloey Road Station, Culdee Fell Railway. High above Peel Godred, the mountain line climbs into the clouds while the electric railway winds through the valley below. To the left lies Poll ny Chrink, where the road curls beneath the railway to the coach station and tea rooms.

“If I choose you, will you work hard?… That’s a good engine. I’ll call you Percy.” This is my piece ‘We need a tank engine’. A line of smartly turned-out tank engines stand ready for inspection, based on the illustration from Trouble in the Shed, of future NWR No. 6
