Advancing Environmental Governance in Kaduna State 🌱
@bridge_thatgap joined key stakeholders in Kaduna for a two-day engagement focused on reviewing the Kaduna State Environmental Policy (2019)—ensuring it is inclusive, relevant, and responsive to current environmental realities.
The engagement which took place on 24th-25th April, 2026, was organised by the Ministry of Environment with support from Strengthening Peace, and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG); provided a platform for stakeholders to assess the existing policy landscape, map roles and interests, and identify critical gaps its implementation.
It also created space for deeper technical analysis of key issues, including:
• Natural resource management (air, water, forests, biodiversity, land)
• Environmental risks and climate change impacts
• Pollution control and industrial accountability
• Emerging cross-sectoral issues such as energy, public health, migration, and green investment.
Through interactive breakout sessions, participants developed practical strategies to strengthen inclusivity and improve the effectiveness of the policy review process.
The engagement concluded with a plenary session that consolidated key insights, aligned priorities, and outlined actionable next steps toward strengthening environmental governance in Kaduna State.
