👉The Future of Grassroots Isn’t What You Think
Outside political consultants (do NOT live in the community which they are representing nor are they grassroots in the slightest) charge campaigns tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Win or lose — they get paid. Many times they are working with multiple candidates at once and/or are already working with potential candidates in other states.
The grassroots volunteer, who spent every weekend knocking doors and handing out flyers? They get a thank you email...maybe, and then they are called back to action in the next election cycle. And they're the ones who actually have to live with the results. Grassroots people have little say despite having great awareness, information, and intelligence, they're shunned. The very people that are directly impacted by the election are shunned.
Something is fundamentally wrong with this model. We've seen too many campaigns where the candidate is ignoring or glossing over the people of the community, and particularly the grassroots (whether an individual(s), nonprofits, or the local "independent" investigators/researchers/journalists. It's not usually the fault of the candidates, the blame can almost always be directed towards the large big-box consultant machine.
Is there something magical about these "large big-box consultants"? Do they have special powers and access to secret information or "intelligence"?
The key words in this post are: "grassroots", "the local "independent" investigators/researchers/journalists", and "intelligence".
The future of grassroots isn’t what you think. It no longer needs to be "business as usual", ignored, or taken for granted.
There is a theme developing and it's for everyone.
